With more than a month and a half remaining in the Minor League Baseball schedule, the MLB Pipeline Top 30 Prospects list for each organization got a refresh. At the end of July, 34 alumni who either donned an MLB Draft League uniform or suited up for Baseball Canada’s Junior National Team rank within their respective organizations lists and even one inside MLB’s Top 100.

2022 State College Spikes | Cubs No. 3 Prospect (MLB Pipeline)
Season: 86 G, .320/.429/.621 (.962 OPS), 23 HR, 23 2B, 3B, 68 RBI, 61 R, 55 BB, 9 SB
The switch-hitting catcher has seen one of the most meteoric rises in prospect rankings across all of Minor League Baseball. In 2025, Ayers was unranked and entered the Cubs’ top 30 following a Breakout Player of the Year award in the Arizona Fall League and a trade, debuting on the list at No. 11. In 2026, the former State College Spike has risen from High-A to Triple-A and ranks third in Minor League Baseball with his 1.050 OPS and fifth with a .621 slugging percentage.

Similar to Ayers, the catching prospect has taken 2026 by storm. The 2025 sixth-round pick was dealt in Spring Training from the Nationals to the White Sox and has hit his way from Single-A to Double-A before the All-Star break. Currently, Smith is fifth in both on-base percentage (.448) and OPS (1.038, tied).

Tong was the ninth Draft League alumni made his MLB debut on Aug. 29, 2025, with a start against the Miami Marlins. 2026 started with the right-hander back in the minors but he would return with the Mets on May 22 in a relief role, pitching 10 total innings. Currently, the right-hander and Mets’ No. 1 prospect is tied for sixth place across the International League (AAA) with 93 strikeouts on the season.

The two-season Draft Leaguer was the 16th alumni to make their MLB debut and sixth of this year with a start against the Washington Nationals on May 20. Following the debut he was sent back to Triple-A Syracuse, recalled, optioned and then recalled again on July 12 where he has stayed in the Mets’ rotation. In July after his latest recall, Thornton has started in three games, two of them where he allowed no runs and all over six innings. In total, the southpaw won two of his starts, accumulating 12 strikeouts over 19 1/3 innings.

The first MLB Draft League prospect taken in the 2025 MLB Draft, Sime’s first professional season has featured plenty of strikeouts and velocity. Working his way up to High-A Wilmington at 19 years old, the former Thunder began the year with the Nationals’ team for the 2026 Spring Breakout and most recently was an All-Star Futures Game select. In Philadelphia, Sime struck out two while throwing the hardest pitch of the game at 101.1 mph.

Before the season began, Rivera was one of seven players with Draft League roots to be on World Baseball Classic rosters, making two appearances for Puerto Rico.

Carson Estridge: The MLB Draft League announced Friday, July 17, that the Houston Astros would be purchasing the second half contract of RHP Carson Estridge, the first contract purchase of 2026. The right-hander made six appearances out of the bullpen for the West Virginia Black Bears, striking out 11 over 9 1/3 innings. More>>
Drew Wyers: On Monday, July 27, the Astros purchased the contract of SS Drew Wyers from the Trenton Thunder. Wyers becomes the second position player in MLB Draft League history to have their contract purchased and first infielder. In 15 games he slashed .281/.432/.438 with a .877 OPS. More>>
Finnegan Wall: On Wednesday, July 29, the MLB Draft League announced the purchase of Finnegan Wall’s second half contract by the Minnesota Twins. The right-hander is the first Aberdeen IronBird in league history to have their contract purchase. In seven games (six starts), Wall struck out 19 with a 4.21 ERA.
