Tuesday
Williamsport (12) vs State College (3): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters wasted no time in the first battle of Pennsylvania this summer as the first four players they sent to the plate picked up hits. Kyle Schupmann got things started with a leadoff double and two pitches later Addison Smith drove him in with a double of his own, ultimately putting up a four spot in the first frame. The Cutters extended the lead to 9-0 with a five run third inning on four walks, two hits and a hit-by-pitch. Alex Walsh made the start for Williamsport and didnโt surrender a run over his first three innings, finishing up with two runs allowed over four innings. The Crosscutters held on from there, surrendering just one unearned run the rest of the way, led by the bullpen and Will Bartkoski who picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings allowing just the one unearned run. Myles Meyer and Will Howell each pitched a clean inning over the eighth and ninth. The bright spot on the mound for the Spikes was Kassius Thomas with 2 1/3 strong innings out of the bullpen, allowing just two hits while striking out three. Camden Ross and Trent Turner each had a pair of hits for the Spikes while Kyle Schupmann led the game with three. With the win, Williamsport has reeled off 10 wins in their past 11 games.
Trenton (8) vs Mahoning Valley (8): BOX SCORE (Trenton wins in sudden death) - It was a wild back and forth affair to open up the series in Trenton with the Thunder squeaking out the win in sudden death with a bases loaded walk. Trailing 1-0 heading into bottom one, Aidan Paradine put the Thunder ahead with a two-run single and Grant Gray added to the lead with an RBI double. Mahoning Valley started scrapping back in the second with an RBI double from Ethan Lindor, the first of his three hits. Tommy Harrison tied things up with an RBI single in the third and the Scrappers would add three more to go ahead 6-3. Trenton stormed back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a run on a groundout before Augie Lopez blasted his second home run in his past four games to tie the game. The dynamic Trenton lineup flashed their power/speed in combination in the sixth, taking an 8-6 lead on three triples from Brett Patten, Jake Koonin (RBI) and Cade Climie. The pesky Scrappers needed just two batters the following half to tie the game again as Harrison led off the inning with a single before Carlos Sanchez sent his third home run of the summer over the left field wall. The Thunder put the winning run on third base in the ninth inning but ultimately needed the sudden death inning to walk in the winning run and take the series opener. Joey Ciancimino pitched two scoreless innings for Trenton with three strikeouts while Danny Heintz did so for Mahoning Valley with four strikeouts.
West Virginia (11) @ Aberdeen (0): BOX SCORE - West Virginia flexed their muscle on Tuesday night, winning their fifth straight and putting up double digit runs for the time in their past four games. Gabriel Barrett got the start for West Virginia and was superb over six innings, allowing no runs on three singles while striking out seven. Barrett became the only pitcher in the first-half to have multiple starts of at least six innings. In the other dugout, Arian Vargas punched out seven over 3 2/3 innings of work. Recent UCLA transfer, Isaac Wachsmann, got the scoring started in the fourth with his third home run of the summer. The Black Bears werenโt done in the inning as Marcus Bradshaw, Owen Henne and Walker Barron all picked up RBI singles, leading to Jose Fernandezโs three-run shot for an eight-run inning. West Virginia would sprinkle in three more runs for an 11-0 victory on the road. Dylan Schlaegel was another top offensive performer for the Black Bears, reaching base four times with a triple and double. Owen Clyne carried the load offensively for Aberdeen, picking up a pair of hits including a double. On the mound, Frank Menendez pitched a clean eighth inning for the IronBirds and has now struck out eight of the ten batters heโs faced so far.
Wednesday
Williamsport (6) vs State College (5): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters reeled off their 11th win in their past 12 games on the back of another dominant outing from the bullpen. The Spikes got the scoring started in the first on a two-run single from Mac Rose and the Cutters quickly answered in the second as Chancellor Jennings cleared the bases, scoring three on a double. The teams traded runs in the middle innings with the final blow in the tight contest coming off the bat of Brodey Acres, an RBI single in the sixth that broke the tie and proved to be the winner. Williamsportโs four relievers combined to surrender just one unearned run on two hits over 6 1/3 innings of work as Cooper Dossett (IP) earned the win in his debut and Dallis Moran (IP) received the save for his third on the summer. Colton Kennedy also fired 2 1/3 scoreless innings while Jacob Limas did so over two innings. Andrew Wiggins was the Spikes offensive leader with a pair of hits and runs scored. AJ Rogers was the lone State College arm with a clean outing (IP) and Kyle Emmons struck out five over two innings while allowing one run.
Trenton (8) vs Mahoning Valley (5): BOX SCORE - It was a highly anticipated pitching matchup on Wednesday night in Trenton with David Lally Jr. allowing just one run over four innings for the Scrappers and Ty Van Valkenburg allowing one run over three innings for the Thunder. Carlos Sanchez broke the tie for Mahoning Valley in the third with an RBI double, his first of two doubles on the night. A Nick Williams RBI single and Jimmy Keenan two-run double extended the Scrappers lead to 5-1. The next half, Trenton would break out for a six-run inning, starting with a NyโZaiah Thompson bases clearing triple to cut the deficit to one. The additional three runs came on a Brett Patten RBI double, Jake Koonin sacrifice fly and Dominic Longo II RBI single. Longo II would add another RBI single in the eighth, his game-leading third hit. Trentonโs back-end was dominant to close things out as Cole Fehrman struck out the side in the sixth before Jack Turner picked up the save over the final two frames, allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Aberdeen (10) vs West Virginia (8): BOX SCORE - Balls were flying in Aberdeen, Maryland again on Wednesday night and a late Black Bears push came up short as the IronBirds evened up the series. Drew Lafferty made his return to the MLB Draft League mound, this time with the Black Bears and surrendered just one run over three innings while striking out four. With the game tied 2-2 heading into the fifth, Aberdeen turned the offense up a notch, scoring multiple runs in three consecutive innings. Collin Priest got things started in the fifth with a scorching two-run double (105.9 mph/383 feet). Bishop Quarles blasted a solo shot in the seventh, his first MLB Draft League home run, and Owen Clyne drove in another with an RBI single. Clyne would finish the night with three hits, two RBI, a run scored, walk and stolen base. The Black Bears started chipping away at the 10-2 deficit in the eighth with a two-run single from Ty Dalley and two-run triple from Dylan Schlaegel. The final burst in West Virginiaโs comeback attempt was a ninth inning two-run blast from Derrick Tarpley Jr., an absolute rocket to left field at 104.9 mph, travelling 336 feet. Kade Newman picked up the win, allowing just one earned run over five innings of work. While the IronBird were scoring runs in the middle innings, Owen Austin was stopping them as he pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings allowing just one walk and striking out three.
Thursday
Aberdeen (7) vs West Virginia (2): BOX SCORE - Despite collecting just two hits on the night, the IronBirds walked 10 times and five hit-by-pitches en route to a series win. Jui-Chieh Lin got the start for Aberdeen and pitched five innings for the third straight start. Lin allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks while striking out three. West Virginiaโs Victor Christal didnโt pitch as deep as Lin but had his swing and miss stuff over three innings, striking out six and allowing just one run. Trailing 2-0 after the first, the IronBirds would score seven unanswered starting with a rocket to left centerfield from Collin Priest (110.2mph/357ft), tying the league-lead with eight doubles. Aberdeen broke the 2-2 tie in the sixth with five runs to put the game away. Following Lin, Daniel Nienaber and Brendan Yagesh were magnificent, each pitching two scoreless with Nienaber striking out five and earning the win while Yagesh punched out four. Beau Sylvester led the Black Bears with a pair of hits while Jose Fernandez and Ben Barrett each drove in a run. Chase Williams was another offensive leader for the IronBirds, going 1-for-3 with a RBI, run scored and walk.
Trenton (4) vs Mahoning Valley (3): BOX SCORE - The first two games in this series went down to the wire with a pair of Trenton Thunder comebacks and Thursday nightโs finale was no different with the deciding hit in the final pitch of the game. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Trentonโs hot hitting Augie Lopez scorched a cutter over the middle into right field at 104.4 mph to drive in Jake Koonin and sweep the series. Alex Kranzler turned in another strong start for the Thunder, allowing just one earned run on one hit and two walks. The lone earned run Kranzler allowed was a Tristan Strickland solo shot in the third (103 mph/400 feet). Trenton trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third and immediately began chipping away with a Jordan Thomas RBI single, adding another in the inning and one in the fifth to tie the game. Trentonโs bullpen was in complete control, four hits and striking out 11 over five innings. Luc Rising received the win, striking out all five he faced and JJ Drennan (2 IP) and Thomas Ellison (IP) each had scoreless outings. Johan Baez pitched 1 1/3 clean innings out of the Scrappers bullpen and Josiah Seguin led the offense with a pair of hits and RBI.
Friday
Williamsport (17) vs Aberdeen (1): BOX SCORE - Behind a 10-run eighth inning, the Crosscutters opened the series by putting up the most runs in a game this season outside of the MLB Draft League International Series. Ben Tryon became the league leader in RBIs for the season after driving in six behind a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles and a grand slam (387 feet, 95.3-mph EV) in the eighth. Getting the start, Brett Antolick set the tone for the game by striking out the side in the top of the first, doing so again in the third and completing his four innings with eight total strikeouts, surrendering one run on two hits. The East Carolina product moved into third amongst qualified pitchers with a WHIP of 0.64 through three starts (11 innings). Following Tryon in the lineup, Nate McHugh accounted for three of his own hits and was responsible for four runs with two RBIs and scoring twice. Williamsport also had four two-hit games from Kyle Schupmann (RBI, R), Nick Barone (RBI, R), Owen Prince (two RBI, R) and Slade Burd (RBI, three R).
Mahoning Valley (3) @ State College (2): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers won their 10th game of the season behind seven shutout innings after putting across all three runs in the first. In the first pitch of his at bat in the first inning, Tristan Strickland recorded his second triple of the summer to drive in two runs and would then come around to score the next at bat on a James Whitman double. The Spikes would then make it a one-run game in the second following Ty Hamiltonโs first double of the summer to drive in two on the first pitch he saw in the game. However, it would be the last runs scored in the game as both teams held each other scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Scrappers pitching staff would be led by Chris Billingsley Jr., who earned a three-inning save and led the game with six strikeouts, tying his single-game best for 2026.
West Virginia (3) vs Trenton (1), Completed Early: BOX SCORE - Shortened by rain, West Virginia was able to come out on top after a first inning home run by Isaac Wahsmann. Travelling 380 feet with an exit velocity of 106.7 mph, the Creighton productโs two-run blast gave him the MLB Draft League home run lead at four. West Virginia would then put across its third run in the fourth on a Marcus Bradshaw single. After being named Pitcher of the Week, Tazwell Butler returned to the mound for the Black Bears and picked up where he left off. The right-hander pitched in all five completed innings, striking out six and allowing one run on three hits. Two of those hits would lead to the run on an Augie Lopez double in the fifth, then scoring on a Grant Gray double a few batters later.
Saturday
Williamsport (10) vs Aberdeen (2): BOX SCORE - Moving to half a game behind first place, the Crosscutters featured another historic performance at the plate for the second consecutive night. It started with a leadoff single in the first inning but four at bats later, Chris Stanfield pieced together the first five-hit game of the 2026 season. The LSU graduate became the 13th Draft Leaguer all-time to record five hits in a game and the fifth to do so in the first half. Stanfield is however, the only one of the 13 to steal four bases in the same game. The historic night also included a triple, RBI and three runs. Williamsport also featured the MLB Draft League debut of Evan Grimes from Division III Russell Sage. The southpaw immediately impressed when he opened the game by striking out the side and finished his start after four innings with seven strikeouts, surrendering two hits and one run that came from Anthony Quigleyโs first home run of the summer (371 ft, 101.4 mph EV). The IronBirds would put one more across in the ninth on Collin Priestโs second home run of the season. The 21-year-old went 422 feet to left field with an exit velocity of 112.1 mph. It became the hardest-hit home run in MLB Draft League history since 2022 and the second hardest hit with a positive launch angle.
State College (5) vs Mahoning Valley (4): BOX SCORE - The Spikes moved back to .500 on the first half behind clutch hitting from CJ Richmond and continued run-prevention from their bullpen. After the Scrappers plated four in the first three innings, State Collegeโs bullpen deployment of Logan Rumberg, Gavin Killion, Kyle Emmons and Tommy Gross worked six scoreless innings to set up a bases-clearing, three-run triple by Richmond in the seventh for the game-winning run. In the past two games, the Spikesโ bullpen has worked 12-straight scoreless innings with 16 strikeouts and allowed just 10 hits. Camden Ross also drove in runs for State College with a two-run single in the third, making the score 4-2 in favor of Mahoning Valley.
West Virginia (6) vs Trenton (0): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears put themselves in position to sweep on Sunday by shutting out the first place Thunder and advancing to above .500 in the first half. Six pitchers combined for the shutout with Miles Smith leading the team through 1 1/3 innings, getting all outs via strikeouts. Following him, Justin Morales, Carson Estridge and Austin Morris each struck out two in hitless innings. Isaac Wachsmann led the offense with two RBI including a single in the seventh. Earlier in the fourth, Dylan Schlaegel made a run around the bases with an inside-the-park home run for his third round tripper of the summer. For Trenton, Bryce Cuero struck out four in two hitless innings to start with Andrew Berg coming in and striking out the side in the sixth, taking the MLB Draft League lead with 29 strikeouts on the season.
Sunday
Trenton (8) @ West Virginia (5): BOX SCORE - Avoiding the sweep and keeping its lead in the standings, Trenton got back on track Sunday with a ninth inning comeback win on the road. Ty Dalley got West Virginia on the board in the second with an RBI single and Owen Henne added two more in the fifth with a two-run blast, marking his first MLB Draft League home run. Joek Rivera tied the game for Trenton in the seventh with one swing of the bat, sending a three-run home run to left center field. Henne put West Virginia back on top with an RBI double in the seventh and Walker Barron added another on an RBI single. Augie Lopez continued his hot stretch with a solo blast in the eighth to help set up a big ninth inning comeback for Trenton. Entering the final frame trailing by one, Trenton put up a four-spot led by a Dominic Longo II RBI and Jake Koonin two-run double. Andrew Berg pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for Trenton, earning his third save of the summer. Luke Payne got the start for Trenton and surrendered one run over three innings while West Virginiaโs starter, Ben Barrett, allowed just one walk over two innings. Frank Ciccone was the winning pitcher, tossing a clean eighth inning for his first MLB Draft League victory.
Aberdeen (3) @ Williamsport (2): BOX SCORE - The IronBirds moved back to .500 as they avoid the sweep on the backs of four two-hit performances and keeping the Crosscutters hitless through the last 3 2/3 innings. All three runs for Aberdeen came from the top of its order, scored by Chase Williams, Bishop Quarles and Owen Clyne. Clyne also drove one in for the first run of the game as Williams and Quarles were two of the four who collected two hits. Brian Heckleman and Nelson Zapata had two base-knocks as well. Owen Austin entered in relief and was the last IronBird to give up a hit before him, Joey McMannis, Frank Menendez and Jacob Crews kept the home team out of the hit column. Williamsportโs offense would come from two loud swings. First, Kyle Schupmann got a hold of his second home run of the summer in the third with an exit velocity of 102.6 mph, traveling down the left field line 339 feet. Nick Barone would follow an inning later with a 99.4-mph base hit.
State College (4) vs Mahoning Valley (3): BOX SCORE - The Spikes closed out the series win by holding the Scrappers to two hits and working out of the bases loaded, full count jam in the ninth. Carson Lane opened the game for State College with four no-hit innings, striking out six in his second MLB Draft League start. He was then followed by a perfect inning from Zach Kilby who struck out two before the Scrappers got their first hit on a leadoff bunt from Josue Malave. On the opposite end, Ethan Stade turned in one of the best performances all season with 3 2/3 scoreless innings and striking out 10 batters. Out of Bowling Green State, the southpaw became the first pitcher this summer to hit the double-digit mark in one game. Overall, both teams combined to strike batters out 27 of 71 times faced. State College would come out on top following singles from Alex Mendoza Jr. and Kolt Myers in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 4-1 game. In the ninth, Mahoning Valley would plate two and with the bases loaded before Gavin Killion came in for the final out to close out the game.
