The MLB Draft League announced that the league will play an exhibition game against the Cape Cod Baseball League on June 30 at Citi Field, the first meeting between the two leagues.

Each league will field one team for the exhibition, with the teams comprised of standout players from the respective leagues. The nine-inning game will begin at 4:05 p.m.

“This matchup will highlight a group of exciting prospects, providing them the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of the scouting community at one of MLB’s top venues,” Sean Campbell, President of the MLB Draft League, said. “These two leagues continually feature the best amateur players in the country, and we’re excited to build on this together in the future.”

"We are thrilled that the Cape Cod Baseball League will be playing an exhibition game at iconic Citi Field against a team from the MLB Draft League," said Andrew Lang, President of the Cape Cod Baseball League. "This is an incredible opportunity to provide our players with a truly memorable experience."

Since its founding in 2021, the MLB Draft League has had more than 300 players sign with MLB organizations, as 185 were selected in the annual 20-round MLB Draft, and more than 150 players signed out of the MLB Draft League as free agents. In 2024, Houston’s Zach Dezenzo became the first Draft League alum to reach Major League Baseball, and was later joined by Washington’s Darren Baker, Boston’s Luis Guerrero, Seattle’s Troy Taylor, Houston’s Logan VanWey, and New York Mets’ Jonathan Pintaro.

Each summer, elite college baseball players from across the United States, representing all NCAA divisions, play in the 10-team Cape Cod Baseball League. Six-of-the-last-seven No. 1 overall MLB draft picks (Travis Bazzana, Paul Skenes, Henry Davis, Spencer Torkelson, Adley Rutschman and Casey Mize) have played in the Cape League. In 2024, 415 Cape League alumni played at the MLB level including Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, Chris Sale and Paul Skenes.
