Draft League Alumni Report - AFL (16x9)

The 2025 Arizona Fall League hosts some of Major League Baseball’s top prospects within a six-team league and this year’s group got underway Monday, Oct. 6. This fall, 23 former MLB Draft League players and one former coach have travelled to Arizona to take part in the Fall League.

Now 10 days into the Fall League season, all teams have five-plus games under their belt, and we will begin diving into the early standouts with ties to the MLB Draft League. The early highlight has been Owen Ayers who was named the first 2025 Hitter of the Week in the league.

Glendale Desert Dogs

RHP D.J. Carpenter (STL, Frederick ‘22): In a limited outing, Carpenter made the most of his call to action by striking out both batters he faced in the eighth inning with a runner in scoring position. His next outing was also to face two batters which he retired in order. During the Minor League season, the reliever struck out 41 batters in 37 innings for the High-A Peoria Chiefs.

LHP Jacob Kroeger (ATL, State College ‘24): A 10th round pick in 2024 by the Braves, Kroeger debuted Tuesday, Oct. 14 for the Desert Dogs in relief with a no-hit third inning that started with putting two runners on and then inducing a double play followed by a groundout to first, keeping the game tied at the time.

RHP Chen-Wei Lin (STL, Frederick ‘23): Signed as an international free agent ahead of the 2023 MLB Draft, the Cardinals’ No. 16 ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline was efficient in his one start for Glendale. Striking out four batters, the Taiwan native allowed one hit through two innings as he was credited with the win.

INF Sam Antonacci (CWS, West Virginia ‘22): In five games the White Sox No. 11 ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline has collected three multi-hit games for the Desert Dogs. On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the infielder went 2-for-6 with a double and three RBI and followed up the next day with a 2-for-4 performance with another double, two RBI, three runs and two walks. Antonacci continued to drive the ball the following week, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored and a walk Wednesday, Oct. 15. The 2024 fifth round pick has also stolen three bases in as many chances after stealing 48 across High-A and Double-A.

Mesa Solar Sox

RHP Mark Adamiak (ATH, State College ‘22): With 21 saves in 46 games across two levels, Adamiak has been utilized as a backend reliever in his two outings with a no-hit eighth in Mesa’s first game of the fall and then earning the save two days later. In two innings, the Athletics’ 15th round pick in 2022 has struck out two, surrendering one hit and one run.

RHP/OF Mason Auer (TB, Frederick ‘21): Returning to the Fall League after playing in 18 games in 2022, Auer came to the Solar Sox in a new role from outfield to pitcher. In 2025 with Single-A Charleston Riverdogs, Auer made six appearances, spanning 5 2/3 innings. With Mesa, the Rays’ fifth round pick in 2021 has only taken the mound once in-game, facing five batters and running his fastball to 95.1 mph.

RHP Corey Avant (ATH, State College ‘23): Coming off 22 starts (31 appearances) across two levels, Avant has seen one start in Mesa where he struck out seven in three innings of the Solar Sox’ 10-9 win Thursday, Oct. 9.

LHP Jack Sellinger (MIA, Mahoning Valley ‘23): The former Scrapper had a strong start to his fall with a no-hit inning with a strikeout and one walk. The following appearance saw less fortune with three earned runs on four hits but did surpass his previous game with two strikeouts, the second ending his inning on four pitches.

C Owen Ayers (CHC, State College ‘22): The Cubs’ 19th round pick of the 2024 MLB Draft has started the fall as the league’s hottest bat with the first Hitter of the Week honors. The switch-hitting catcher opened up the season with a home run and two doubles in his first three games, throwing out six would-be base stealers as well. Immediately after being named Hitter of the Week, Ayers homered for the second time with the Solar Sox on Tuesday.

Peoria Javelinas

LHP Sayer Diederich (BAL, West Virginia ‘24): Signed as an MiLB free agent in June, the southpaw has made two appearances for the Javelinas. The first featured one inning of work and faced the minimum as he walked the first batter, induced a double play and then struck out the third on three pitches. The next lasted one inning as well where he surrendered one run on a hit and walk. In his first year of pro ball, Diederich ended the season with the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds where he struck out 43 in 33 2/3 innings.

3B Charlie Pagliarini (SEA, Trenton ‘23): Pagliarini has appeared in three games so far and has reached base five times, highlighted by a 2-for-4 performance with two doubles Oct. 15. This was Pagliarini’s second season in pro ball and slashed .224/.349/.439 with High-A Everett.

Salt River Rafters

RHP Jay Allmer (BOS, Frederick ‘24): Allmer made his Arizona Fall League debut Oct. 7, working a scoreless inning for the River Rafters, allowing just one hit while striking out one. The Red Sox prospect has now appeared in two games and posted a 2.85 ERA this summer between High-A and Single-A.

2 G, 2.1 IP, 1 K, 2 H, 3 ER, 4 BB

RHP Joshua Loeschorn (PIT, Trenton ‘21): The former Trenton Thunder right-hander has appeared in two games, pitching 1 1/3 innings in both outings. Loeschorn has allowed just one run and has also struck out one. After missing all of 2024, Loeschorn pitched to a 2.86 ERA and moved all the way up to Double-A after starting the season in Rookie.

RHP Carlson Reed (PIT, West Virginia ‘21/23): The former Black Bear made his Fall League debut Oct. 15, tossing two innings allowing just one earned run and striking out two. Reed spent the majority of the summer in High-A where he pitched to a 4.14 ERA across 63 innings.

OF Stanley Tucker (BOS, Williamsport ‘23): Tucker was hot out of the gate, picking up two hits, two RBI and two stolen bases on Opening Day. Through his first three games, the outfielder reached base six times and drove in six, as well.

Scottsdale Scorpions

RHP Austin Amaral (WAS, Trenton ‘23): Amaral took the mound on Opening Day, working a scoreless ninth inning in a one-run ballgame. The Washington Nationals prospect went 2/3 of an inning in his next two outings, including a clean outing Oct. 15 against Salt River. A strong 2025 campaign saw Amaral reach Double-A for the first time in his career, putting up a 2.40 ERA over ten games and 15 appearances at the level.

OF Joseph Sullivan (HOU, Williamsport ‘23): Sullivan is the Astros No. 6 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and has been hot to start his Arizona Fall League campaign. The former South Alabama Jaguar has collected a hit in all three games he’s played, including multiple hits in two of the three. Sullivan is 5-for-13 with six runs scored, an RBI, three walks, a HBP and is 4-for-4 on the bases.

RHP Nate Wohlgemuth (HOU, Williamsport ‘23): Wohlgemuth made his first and only appearance so far Oct. 9 when he tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings against the Desert Dogs. The former Crosscutter opened his summer pitching in Indy ball before the Astros signed him to a Minor League contract in June.

SS Jeron Williams (HOU, West Virginia ‘21): Williams has appeared in three games for the Scorpions, picking up two hits, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. The Astros prospect spent the majority of the season in Double-A where he slashed .250/.312/.342 over 56 games.

Surprise Saguaros

RHP Daniel Harper (PHI, State College ‘22): Harper made his Fall League debut Oct. 9, working the ninth inning for the Saguaros 7-2 win. The Phillies prospect struck out one and walked one in a scoreless inning. Harper put together a strong 2025 campaign that saw him start in Single-A and finish up in Triple-A.

C Ben Hartl (TEX, West Virginia ‘22): Hartl made some noise in his Arizona Fall League debut, starting the Saguaros’ 10th-inning comeback with a leadoff double to score the runner from second. Hartl would come around to score in the inning as Surprise scored three in the inning to win 11-10.

RHP L.P. Langevin (KC, West Virginia ‘23): Langevin has only appeared in one game so far but made the most of his one inning on the mound. The Canadian right-hander picked up all three outs via the strikeout Oct. 8, walking just one batter in the scoreless inning. Langevin made his pro debut this summer, working 21 1/3 innings between Rookie and High-A.

Signings

This past week, Luke House of the 2025 State College Spikes signed a Minor League deal with the Cleveland Guardians, the fourth player featured in the second half to sign with a Major League organization. The right hander appeared in both halves for State College, notably the starting pitcher in their first-half clinching game and also appeared in the championship game.

At the end of the 2025 season, House had a share of the most starts in the season with 10 with the fourth-most strikeouts and innings with the ninth-best WHIP. In the first half, he made four starts with 25 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings with a 2.11 ERA. In four of his 10 starts, House struck out seven-plus batters, reaching as high as nine twice.

The MLB Draft League has found success in the MLB Draft through its first five seasons with 233 players drafted and another 180+ signing as free agents for a total of more than 400 players placed in affiliated baseball.
