The MLB Draft League announced that the Minnesota Twins have purchased the contract of RHP Finnegan Wall from the Aberdeen IronBirds. He is the third Draft League professional player to have their contract purchased by a Major League club this season and 17th since the league implemented a professional, second-half format in 2022.

Wall, 23, appeared in seven games with the IronBirds, six of them starts, with five starts in the first half and one in the second. With 29 strikeouts, the right-hander carried an ERA of 4.21 with 19 strikeouts over 25 2/3 innings.

Twice Wall struck out five batters in a game, with his best start coming Thursday, June 11 at home against the State College Spikes. Through five innings, he surrendered one run on five hits and three walks, earning the win. The second time Wall struck out five was in his one second-half start, going four innings with two earned runs on four hits.

Wall joins Carson Estridge (West Virginia) and Drew Wyers (Trenton) as the third player from this season to have their contract purchased, and joins Jui-Chieh Lin (Aberdeen) as pitchers going to the Twins who were not drafted or signed as undrafted free agents.

In the IronBirdsโ€™ first season in the MLB Draft League, Wall is the organizationโ€™s first player to have their contract purchased by an MLB organization. He joins Lin, who was the teamโ€™s first international free agent and player to sign an MLB contract, Ryan Pruitt as the teamโ€™s first draft pick and Josh Skowronski as the teamโ€™s first undrafted free agent signing.

From Hesperia, Calif., Wall is a UC Irvine graduate who made 12 starts and two relief appearances in 2026, striking out 47 over 58 innings. Carrying a 4.03 ERA, his strikeouts, innings and earned run average ranked second amongst starters for the Anteaters.

Wallโ€™s purchased contract comes after a historic 2026 MLB Draft within the Draft League with 58 players selected. Additionally, the league tied the 2024 and 2025 seasons with 36 draft picks who played in the same summer as their selection. In the leagueโ€™s sixth season, the MLB Draft League has produced 291 MLB Draft picks and more than 200 players have signed as undrafted free agents.
