Final Score- Williamsport 11 Mahoning Valley 3

Niles, OH– The Crosscutters defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in game two to take the series win. The Cutters clicked on all cylinders scoring 11 runs on 11 hits with multiple pitchers having solid outings on the mound. The defense also made no errors on the field in what was a solid night for Williamsport.

Both teams scored a run in the second inning to make it a 1–1 game. The Cutters scored first on an RBI single from catcher Jax Cash with centerfielder Logan Flood scoring from second base. The Scrappers tied the game on a groundout, scoring a runner from third.

The Cutters took a big lead in the top of the third inning scoring four runs. Shortstop Isaac Nunez led off the inning with a double. Third baseman Travis Holt tripled to centerfield and the cutters took the lead. Designated hitter Tayden Hall hit into a fielder’s choice, allowing Holt to score and reach safely himself. Flood then hit a line drive that skipped all the way to the centerfield wall allowing Hall and Flood to come all the way around and score to make the game 5–1 game.

Starting pitcher Easton Sikorski finished his strong outing with a one-two-three inning in the third. He gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts.

The Scrappers got a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk.

The Cutters opened their lead in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run frame. Flood hit a leadoff single and then advanced to second from an error on a pickoff attempt. Right fielder Cole Evans brought Flood home on a single to left field. Cash walked setting up a two-run double from left fielder Matthew Etzel to make the game 8–2.

Relief pitcher Creed Watkins came on in the fifth inning throwing a three-up, three-down inning with two strikeouts. J.J. Sanchez tossed a scoreless inning in the sixth and Brandon Laux pitched a scoreless inning in the seventh for the Cutters.

The Cutters added a run in the eighth and two in the ninth to build their lead to 11–2. Evans walked with the bases loaded in the eighth to bring in the ninth run. Nunez walked and Etzel hit the second inside-the-park home run of the game for the Cutters adding two more runs.

The Scrappers got one more run in the bottom of the ninth inning after loading the bases and bringing a runner home on a groundout to make it 11–3.

The Cutters win the series with game three left to play tomorrow starting at 7:05 p.m. before returning to Williamsport for a three-game series against West Virginia beginning on Tuesday, June 28.
