Major League Baseball is delighted to welcome you to the fifth season of the MLB Draft League. In its first four years, the Draft League has created lasting memories for loyal fans and strengthened our game in its communities. I know that the six teams of the Draft League will again create an unforgettable summer for everyone involved.
The innovative format of the Draft League demonstrates our sport’s unique player development model. The first half of the season will feature college prospects who are gaining visibility ahead of the MLB Draft in July. In the second half, fans will see players taking the first steps of their professional careers. Since its inaugural season in 2021, 296 players have signed with MLB organizations from the Draft League, including 185 who were selected in the MLB Draft.
In 2024, we were thrilled to see four MLB Draft League selections make their Major League debuts, as Darren Baker, Zach Dezenzo, Luis Guerrero and Troy Taylor all became Major Leaguers for the first time. On April 11th of this year, Astros pitcher Logan VanWey became the fifth MLB Draft League product to get the call.
Utilizing technology originally developed for the Major Leagues, participants will benefit from resources that will help hone their skills and develop their careers – all under the tutelage of former Major League players as managers and coaches. The time that players spend in the Draft League will prepare them well for their upcoming careers in professional baseball, thrilling fans along the way.
None of this success would be possible without your support. Last year, we were very pleased to once again welcome over half a million fans to Draft League games. This season, Draft League teams will again offer a superb fan experience with a focus on high-caliber baseball on the field and fun in the stands.
