Monday

West Virginia (5) vs. State College (3): BOX SCORE - Despite being out-hit by two, a couple crooked numbers in the middle innings and four scoreless innings from the bullpen helped the Black Bears even up the series. The Spikes put up the first two runs on a CJ Richmond single (110.2 mph) in the second but would only hold the lead for a full inning. A fourth-inning RBI single from Ian Collier and RBI ground-rule double from Owen Petrich knotted the game at 2-2. Camden Ross took the lead back once again with an RBI single, but the Black Bears clawed back again in the top half. Alec DeMartino walked in a run before Jackson Trout provided what turned into the game-winning hit, a two-run double. Carson Gipson worked two scoreless innings out of the Black Bears bullpen, striking out two, and Dawson Hall earned his fifth save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Spikes closer, Patrick Morris, was the standout on the mound as he struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth. Petrich led the game with three hits, his second straight multi-hit game.

Williamsport (7) vs. Aberdeen (4): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters took Game 2 and the series, helping open up a 1.5 game lead on the IronBirds in the second half standings. Reigning Player of the Week, Matthew Williams, quickly asserted himself into the new week with an RBI single (104.7 mph) to open the scoring. The IronBirds immediately answered with two of their own, highlighted by Isaiah Parido’s RBI triple (101 mph). The starting pitchers cruised from there as Ryker Walton allowed just three runs over 6 2/3 innings for Williamsport. On the other side, Ethan Paulson allowed just one run over five innings on two hits, one walk and struck out three. The Crosscutters flipped the script in the eighth, plating three runs to take a 5-3 lead on RBI singles from Santino Panaro and Nick Barone, as well as a sacrifice fly from Nick Romano. Jack Kail provided the insurance in the ninth with a two-run blast, his first MLB Draft League home run. Brylan West put up a homer of his own in the ninth, his second of the summer, but Aberdeen ultimately fell by three runs. Tyler Muscar picked up his first MLB Draft League win, hurling the final 2 1/3 innings and allowed one run on one hit and no walks.

Mahoning Valley (10) vs. Trenton (9): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers took their second straight game with their first 10-run game since Sunday, Aug. 2. Both offenses went back-and-forth in scoring and the lead, starting with back-to-back singles by Julian Hernandez and Jason Torres in the bottom of the first to put Mahoning Valley up 2-0. In the second inning, Billy Morris provided Trenton’s answer with an RBI single that also featured a second run on a fielding error. In the bottom half, three runs would be added for the Scrappers with RBIs from Jordan Taylor, Cayden Evans and Cooper Vance. The lead would be pushed wider in the bottom of the fifth from Tervell Johnson’s first home run of the summer (349 feet, 98.8-mph exit velocity), sandwiching Trenton’s third run in during the top half of the inning. The Thunder would load the bases with the first three batters of the sixth inning and then plate them all plus two more to tie the game at eight, highlighted by AJ Swader becoming the seventh player this summer to record 10 doubles in the second half. Evans would drive in his second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a single to give Mahoning Valley back the lead, but would be answered by Trenton again with a Cy Turner sacrifice bunt. The exchanging of runs would come to a finish in the bottom of the seventh with the Scrappers’ game-winning run coming on Kaikea Harrison’s 13th RBI of the summer on a two-out single to right field. Mahoning Valley would close out the game with two strikeouts in the eighth from Julian Pokorny and Justin Abercrombie recording the save in the ninth by striking out the side.

Tuesday

State College (7) @ West Virginia (2): BOX SCORE - The Spikes secured the series win on the road led by Blake Bradford’s grand slam and triple, as well as a pair of high-level pitching performances. State College put up a pair in the first inning but Bradford’s grand slam (103 mph/419 feet) in the fourth broke things open, extending the lead to 6-0. That was more than enough run support for Trey Cehajic and Vincent Spizzoucco who combined to allow no runs over their combined eight innings. Cehajic got the start and win, working five scoreless on three hits and three walks. Spizzoucco followed up Cehajic and mowed hitters down, striking out six over three and allowed just one hit and one walk. Bradford went on to extend the lead in the sixth with an RBI triple, his fifth RBI of the game. West Virginia put up a pair in the ninth on a bases loaded walk and Kevin Jones RBI double, but Patrick Morris was called upon to get the final out and did so on just two pitches. The final out gave Morris the save, his second half leading seventh of the summer. Jones had three of the game’s nine hits and Rene Lastres was the leader out of the bullpen, pitching a clean eighth inning with one strikeout.

Williamsport (6) @ Aberdeen (1): BOX SCORE - Led by Josh Willitts and Matthew Mariano on the mound and James McCoy in the box, the Crosscutters completed a huge three-game sweep of the IronBirds, extending their second half lead to 2.5 games. Willitts extended his second half record to 4-0 with six strong innings, allowing just one unearned run on five hits, two walks and struck out five. Mariano took it home from there, working three shutout innings for the save, allowing just one hit while striking out three. McCoy’s fourth straight multi-hit game saw him go 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, two stolen bases and drove in three of the team’s six runs. Out of the leadoff spot, Santino Panaro matched McCoy with three hits, also adding two runs scored and a stolen base. For the IronBirds, Max Galvin paced the offense with two hits and Michael Laudando led the way on the mound with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and struck out two.

Mahoning Valley (5) vs. Trenton (4): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers completed the sweep in walk-off fashion courtesy of Jordan Taylor. Mahoning Valley held Trenton scoreless through seven innings, all done by Clayton Burke who struck out four batters. Through his start, the Scrappers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth behind a Kaikea Harrison double. In the eighth, the Thunder would take the lead after a Jovi Gill double and Cy Turner single, but answered in the bottom half on a two-run triple from Jayden Hylton. Similar to Monday’s contest, it continued to be a back-and-forth game when in the top of the ninth, with two outs and a runner on first, AJ Swader took a middle-up fastball 402 feet to right center field (106.5-mph exit velocity) for a go-ahead blast. In the bottom of the ninth, Mahoning Valley would put the first two runners on base and move both of them into scoring position for Harrison to tie the game at four. It would cap off a three-hit night for the left-handed swinging shortstop where he recorded two doubles. Taylor, the next batter, would have runners on the corners and one out. On the first pitch, he would send a grounder to short and beat out the throw for the walk-off victory as the Thunder came close to completing the 6-4-3 double play to send the game to the sudden death extra inning.

Thursday

State College (3) vs. Williamsport (0): BOX SCORE - In one of the best pitching duels of the summer, the Spikes came out victorious to take the first of six straight games against the first place Crosscutters. Haden Luke got the ball for the host Spikes and went six deep, allowing no runs and just one hit, three walks and struck out eight. Williamsport’s starter, Bobby Helt, was equally as impressive, working six shutout innings himself on four hits, one walk and also struck out eight. CJ Richmond finally pushed across the first run of the game in the seventh, a two-run single at 107.6 mph off the bat. Earning the win was Zach Kilby after two strong innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one walk while striking out three. Patrick Morris extended his second half saves lead with his ninth, striking out three in the final frame to close it out.

Aberdeen (8) vs. Mahoning Valley (3): BOX SCORE - Another deep start from Josh Milleville and a seven run fourth inning propelled Aberdeen to the win on the road to start the series. Milleville went seven deep for the second time this month, earning the win while allowing just two runs, five hits, one walk and struck out two. Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the IronBirds flexed their muscle with six hits and four extra-base hits in the seven run inning. Taj Bates blasted a two-run shot (97 mph/359 feet) to tie the game and just two batters later, Luis De La Cruz cracked a two-run homer of his own to give the IronBirds a 4-2 lead. Isaiah Parido put the exclamation point on the inning with a bases clearing double to make it 7-2. The pitchers limited runs over the back half of the game, but Mike Young’s solo homer (101.6 mph/379 feet) in the ninth provided some late excitement for the home fans. Parido and Jacoby Radcliffe led Aberdeen with three hits each while Young did so for the Scrappers with two hits. Blake Barker allowed just one run over the final three frames for the Scrappers and struck out two without issuing a walk.

Friday

State College (4) @ Williamsport (4) SC wins in sudden death tiebreaker: BOX SCORE - The Spikes won their third straight game to stay in the hunt with a sudden death extra inning walk-off by Camden Ross. State College took the lead from the jump on a first-inning RBI double from CJ Richmond who would then score two batters later on a single from Blake Bradford. Two more runs would come across for the Spikes as Jackson Mayo held the Crosscutters scoreless through his five innings of work. In the sixth, Williamsport would rally to tie with all four runs not coming from a hit. Trey Wells and Nick Romano would drive in two in the inning on a force out and ground out, Matthew Williams walked in a run in the seventh followed by a force out by Chris Stanfield to tie. Matthew Mariano would keep State College scoreless to get the game to the extra inning with 3 2/3 no-hit innings, striking out five. In the sudden death extra inning with a runner on first and second and no outs, Ross would scorch a line drive into left field for the walk-off victory.

Trenton (5) vs West Virginia (0): BOX SCORE - The Thunder snapped a five-game losing streak with a home shutout behind a late offensive push and steady pitching. Billy Morris went seven innings for the start, striking out six batters. Following him John Hacker threw two perfect innings to close the night, striking out two. Trenton would score its first run in the sixth inning on a walk to Daniel Murillo but the seventh would feature a jolt. With a runner on second, Bryson Trammell drilled his third home run of the summer (387 feet, 102.1-mph exit velocity) off of the scoreboard in right field, followed two pitches later by AJ Swader making it back-to-back with his seventh to center field (407 feet, 104.6-mph exit velocity).

Aberdeen (5) @ Mahoning Valley (2): BOX SCORE - After the Spikes’ walk-off, the IronBirds kept their half-game lead in the second half, scoring all of their runs in the ninth. Alexander Llinas worked into the ninth inning for Mahoning Valley, ending his night completing eight with three strikeouts, six hits and a walk. Leading up to the final inning, the Scrappers scored runs in the fifth on a wild pitch and in the eighth with a single from Jayden Hylton. After Llinas put the first runner on in the ninth, the second runner would reach, setting up Max Galvin to tie the game on a two-run double to the right center gap. He would then score as the go-ahead run on a Jacoby Radcliffe single the other way to left. Aberdeen would load the bases and have two more runs score on back-to-back walks. Roman Harrison would slam the door in the bottom of the ninth for his fourth save of the season to not only stay ahead of State College, but put them half a game behind the Crosscutters for the overall second half lead.

Saturday

Trenton (8) vs West Virginia (6): BOX SCORE - The Thunder took their last home game of the 2026 season, finishing with a record of 14-9 in Trenton during the second half. The first three batters in Trenton’s lineup all had two hits and two runs with the leadoff man, Brayden Fraasman, clubbing his third home run of the summer (335 feet, 94.6-mph exit velocity) in the fifth inning. Following him with two hits were the home run hitters from Friday night, Bryson Trammell and AJ Swader. The Thunder would also have a two-hit performance from Daniel Murillo who drove in a run, scored a run and stole three bases. West Virginia would plate six runs with Zack Thompson and Tyvon Moore having two RBI but Justin Williams and Joe Colucci would not allow a base runner in the final three innings to prevent a comeback. The Black Bears’ Tom Chmiewlewski led the game with four strikeouts across two innings and Andrew Luczak was the only pitcher on staff to now allow a run in two scoreless innings of relief.

Williamsport (6) vs State College (2): BOX SCORE - In another crucial game as the Crosscutters seek a second half title, Evan Grimes and Tyler Muscar combined to hold the Spikes to just two runs over their nine innings. Grimes went six innings for the first time this month, allowing just two runs on five hits, two walks and racked up seven punchouts. Muscar carried the game home from there, working three shutout innings for his first MLB Draft League save. Highlighting the Cutters 11 hits on the night was Joey DeMucci’s first three-hit game and James McCoy’s RBI triple, his second half leading 46th RBI. Matching DeMucci’s three hits and leading the Spikes offense was Justin Journette who had three singles and drove in both of the team’s runs. On the mound, Juan Reyes pitched a clean seventh inning and Vincent Spizzoucco continued his dominant run, allowing just one run over three innings out of the bullpen. With the win and Aberdeen loss, Williamsport can clinch the second half title Sunday with another win and Aberdeen loss.

Mahoning Valley (6) vs Aberdeen (5): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers avoided the sweep to win in their final home game of the year after another deep start and two three-run innings. Eli Edds worked into the eighth inning where he didn’t allow a run through the first seven and struck out four. He ended the night with 7 1/3 innings and having three unearned runs attached to him. In the eighth inning, the IronBirds were close to putting across another late rally with Max Galvin recording another two-run double. However, Reagan Rivera would be called in to hold the lead for the final out of the eighth and then complete the ninth for the save. Mahoning Valley’s offense did its damage with three runs in the third that came from a two-run triple by Jayden Hylton, who then scored on a Maddox Mihalakis single. Mihalakis would score a run himself in the third on a Zion Williams double who would score the next at-bat along with Cooper Vance on a two-run single from Jason Torres.

Sunday

Aberdeen (5) vs Trenton (5) ABD wins in sudden death tiebreaker: BOX SCORE - The IronBirds needed a win and/or Crosscutters loss to remain alive in the second half and it came down to the wire in a crucial game. The IronBird came out of the gates swinging, putting up three in the first on an RBI double from Max Galvin and an RBI single from both Isaiah Parido and Taj Bates. Just two innings later, the Thunder put up their own crooked number with four, starting with an AJ Swader solo home run, his fifth home run in his past seven games. Pierre Cabral’s RBI double gave Trenton the lead, before Michael Whooley added a sacrifice fly and Louis Percival’s RBI single to take a two run lead. Brylan West brought Aberdeen within one on a fifth inning RBI single and also brought them even in the seventh with an RBI double. Completing the comeback and massive win for the IronBirds was none other than Patrick McCullough, driving home the winning run on a single to right field. Jake Geis was Aberdeen’s top performing arm, allowing just one hit over three innings while striking out four. Trenton’s Blake Donnan worked three strong himself, allowing just one hit, one walk and struck out four.

West Virginia (5) vs Mahoning Valley (5) WV wins in sudden death tiebreaker: BOX SCORE - The Black Bears kicked off their final homestand of the season in walk-off fashion, on the back of the MLB Draft League’s new single-half stolen base king, Cayden Gaskin. In regulation, the second baseman stole his 37th base of the second half in the eighth inning, advancing to third on a throwing error. The stolen base passes Aaron Whitley, who stole 36 bases for the Trenton Thunder in the 2025 first half. That stolen base would set up Kevin Jones to tie the game for West Virginia with a 105.9-mph single. Prior to that, the Black Bears took to a 4-0 lead after the first five innings, consisting of an RBI double from Jones as well as a single from Ian Collier that rocketed off the bat at an even 109 mph. The Scrappers’ offense began to fight back in the top of the sixth, led by Davis Mauzy who accounted for four out of the five runs. In the sixth, he put Mahoning Valley on the board with an RBI single, scoring four batters later to help make it a one-run game. The following inning, a two-out single from the center fielder tied the game at four and came around as the go-ahead run a batter later. In the sudden death extra inning, the Black Bears would load the bases with nobody out, setting up Gaskin who rocketed a ground ball towards the shortstop that couldn’t be contained as the walk-off winning run crossed the plate.

Williamsport (5) @ State College (1): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters tied up the six game home-and-home series to move one game closer to becoming the first team in MLB Draft League history to finish first in both halves of the same season. Ryker Walton completed seven innings after putting in 6 2/3 during his last start, Monday, Aug. 24. The right-hander struck out eight batters for a personal best on the summer while being tagged with the one State College run on a Jett Buck single in the fourth. In relief for the final two innings, Brandon Scott struck out three with only one batter reaching on a walk. Offensively, Nick Romano had two hits with an RBI in the seventh and Jack Kail led the game with three runs batted in. the first would be the game’s first run on a fielder's choice in the second and then in the sixth with two outs, deposit his second home run of the summer to right field (395 feet, 98.5-mph exit velocity) for two runs.
