State College (7) @ Aberdeen (6): BOX SCORE - Four doubles and 10 stolen bases for the Spikes helped open the week with a win as four prospects recorded two or more steals. Marking the third time an MLB Draft League team recorded double-digit stolen bases in a game this season. It's the second year that three teams have stolen more than 10 bases in a game (2024) and the only to have accomplished it in the first half. State College’s swipes came from Tyree Reed (2) who walked in the second inning and immediately stole second and third base, CJ Richmond who became one of nine players to steal three bases in a game along with Dominic Pellegrin, and the final two stolen bases from Kolt Myers. The Spikes’ offense was also led by Pellegrin and Andrew Wiggins’ two RBI. For the IronBirds, Dalton Bargo made his MLB Draft League debut after his senior season with North Carolina State and led the night across the league with three RBI. Two from his first hit in the bottom of the third for Aberdeen’s first runs of the game followed by a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth.
Trenton (6) @ West Virginia (1): BOX SCORE - After a delay of lightning in Morgantown, the Thunder of New Jersey came down and won their sixth straight. It continues the all-time longest win streak to open the first half of an MLB Draft League season, surpassing the 2023 State College Spikes’ streak of four. After a scoreless first, Trenton took the lead and didn’t look back after a two-run single by Chase Swain. The La Salle product has recorded all four RBI this season on two-run hits. Leading the game,Trenton’s Matthew Bucciero was a home run shy of the cycle with a 3-for-5 day, two RBI and a run scored. Pitching-wise, the Thunder allowed just three hits and struck out 12 between Noah Sundquist (4 IP, 3 K), Andrew Berg (2 IP, 5 K), Joe Colucci (1 IP) and Nate Bennett (2 IP, 4 K). West Virginia pitchers also combined for 12 strikeouts with Gabriel Barrett (4 IP, 2 K), Parker Ishee (0.2 IP, K), Miles Smith (2.1 IP, 4 K) and Trenton Lape (2 IP, 5 K).
Williamsport (9) @ Mahoning Valley (0): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters combined for the first shutout of 2026 with a combined 15 strikeouts and four hits allowed. David Horn Jr. led the Williamsport pitching staff off with four innings, striking out five on three hits. After two starts, the Middle Tennessee product ended the night as one of 12 qualified pitchers to have a WHIP under 0.70. The game was followed by two perfect innings from Colton Kennedy who struck out three, two innings by Jackson Nash that started with the right-hander striking out the side with five total strikeouts and closed out by Myles Meyer who struck out two in a hitless ninth inning. Offensively, Maddix Dalena slugged his second home run of the season in the third, going the other way 373 feet with an exit velocity of 101.3 mph. The Pennsylvania native’s blast drove in two runs but he wasn’t alone with a multi-RBI game as he was joined by Chris Stanfield who also doubled twice and Addison Smith whose RBI also came on an extra-base hit.
Wednesday
Mahoning Valley (8) vs. Williamsport (4): BOX SCORE - After Tuesday’s shutout, the Scrappers’ offense bounced back with 11 hits to take the matinee. David Lally Jr. Helped pave the way for the Scrappers to jump ahead with the lead through four shutout innings in the start, striking out four and allowing two hits. Nick Williams drove in Jack Cannon for the first run of the game in the second inning, followed in the fourth by a Ryan Nelson double and Jarren Purify’s second home run of the season (420 ft, 100.7 mph EV). The home run would result in the difference as a two-run triple from Addison Smith, RBI single from Chris Stanfield and home run from Chancellor Jennings (366 ft, 94.9 mph EV) were not enough to complete the rally.
Trenton (3) @ West Virginia (1): BOX SCORE - The Thunder extended their win streak to seven games behind the team’s first home run of the season and the pitching staff allowing three hits. Trenton’s pitching staff was headlined by Jack Picozzi going four innings deep in his start with only four runners reaching base, followed by Luc Rising (2 IP, K, 0 H), Luke Payne (1 IP, K, 2 H), Cole Fehrman (1 IP, 3 K), who struck out the side in his one inning, capped off by Andrew Berg’s (1 IP, 2 K) second save of the year. Also featured in the game, Trenton’s Carsten Sabathia III recorded his third double of the season at 110.5 mph off the bat, surpassing the league-wide season best at the time previously recorded by Aberdeen’s Anthony Quigley (110 mph).
State College (12) @ Aberdeen (0): BOX SCORE - State College took its second straight win on the road in Aberdeen behind a dominant offensive showing from CJ Richmond and steady pitching that held the IronBirds hitless in the last 7 1/3 innings. With a 1-0 lead in the third inning, State College rounded the bases on back-to-back pitches, first an inside-the-park home run by Kolt Myers followed by Richmond going over the wall (338 ft, 92 mph EV), both their firsts of the summer. Richmond’s night would end with a 3-for-3 performance where he walked twice, drove in two runs and recorded the hardest-hit ball of the season across the league at 110.7 mph, no less than 20 minutes after Sabathia’s 110.5 mph drive. Collin Priest and Brian Heckleman each led the IronBirds and the game with three RBI. Priest drove in his first two in the second for the tying and go-ahead run, following up with his third via a walk in Aberdeen’s seven-run fourth inning. Two batters after the walk with the bases loaded, Heckleman would clear the bases with his second double of the summer and second hit of the game.
Williamsport (11) vs. Mahoning Valley (5): BOX SCORE - 11 stolen bases and a strong second half of the game from the bullpen helped propel the Crosscutters to a series win on the road. Williamsport (7) vs. Mexico (3): BOX SCORE - For the second straight night, Mexico jumped out to a first inning lead but ultimately the Cutters ability to get on base and move around them proved to be too much. Leonardo Delgado kickstarted Mexico’s offense with a leadoff blast before adding another in the second on a Gerardo Cardona RBI double. Mexico’s Isaac Briones held the cutters to just one run over three frames but Williamsport quickly took over from there. The Crosscutters regained the lead in the third through a Ben Tryon RBI double and a pair of RBI groundouts. The leadoff home run was the only run Jui-Chieh Lin would allow over his five innings while striking out four. A flurry of unconventional runs in the seventh through a passed ball, walk and error put the game out of reach at 7-1. Mahoning Valley (7) vs. West Virginia (6): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears four home runs weren’t enough to get past Mahoning Valley as balls in a thriller in Niles. Spark plug Jarren Purify quickly got things started with a leadoff blast, his third of the summer. High school product and Oklahoma recruit, Hunter Watson, struck out five in his three innings and a third inning inside-the-park home run to Marcus Bradshaw was the only earned run he’d allow. Reigning Player of the Week, Carlos Sanchez, tied things with an RBI single in the third before Grayson Fitzwater put the Black Bears back in front with his third home run in as many days. Home runs from Dylan Schlaegel and Isaac Wachsmann extended the Black Bears lead to 6-3 before the Scrappers would quickly storm back in the bottom half. The following inning, Rhys Whiteford would make it a one-run game with a bases-loaded fielder's choice.
