Mahoning Valley second baseman Jarren Purify missed a month of his spring season at Clemson with a broken bone in his hand after getting hit by a pitch. He returned in early May, produced a career high slash line (.344/.454/.534) in 40 games and has taken that pace to the Draft League. Missing the last few games while participating in the Draft Combine, Purify continues to rake along with a .313 average and .433 on-base. Heβs also produced better than league average exit velocities with both his max EV of 105.9 and EV90 of 103.3 mph. The right-handed hitter rarely misses the fastball in the strike zone and when combined with plus run speed and above average defense, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound infielder will be considered in the top five rounds this July.
Williamsportβs Ben Tryon caught my eye last fall when Dallas Baptist visited Arkansas and heβs pouring it on in the Draft League this summer. The 21-year-old, left-handed hitter leads the league with 23 RBI and also leads the Crosscutters in hits (27) and doubles (7) while producing a .351/.444/.532 slash. Although his max EV is just 104.9 mph, Tryon makes up for it with a high-percentile contact rate of 90.7% and has whiffed on just one fastball (sinker) in the strike zone. The 6-foot, 215-pound first baseman has committed just two errors in 150 chances for a .987 FLD%.
Crosscutter teammate Chris Stanfield recently became the 13th player in league history to go 5-for-5 at the plate in a single game on Saturday, June 27. The LSU graduate is also one of the leaders in the league this season with a 92.5% zone-contact rate to highlight hitting .327. While playing a βpower-firstβ position, Stanfield hasnβt been shy of stealing bases, tied for sixth with 14 and within that five-hit performance, he stole a 2026 single-game best four bases.
Aberdeen first baseman Colin Priest may be hitting just .215, but when he hits the ball, he hits it hard. His EV90 of 108.8 mph leads the league. The left-handed slugger also recently set the all-time Draft League record for exit velocity on a home run when he went up top 422 feet with a 112.1 mph EV. The power production from the Central Florida transfer has resulted in a share for the league lead of eight doubles and third with 10 extra-base hits while also driving in the fourth-most runs at 17.
State College catcher Camden Ross has been consistent at the plate all season. In his second summer with the league, heβs been a disciplined hitter with low chase rates, heβs currently batting .340 with a team-leading 16 RBI and a max EV of 105.4 mph. The Western Kentucky backstop carries an OPS of 1.013 over 15 MLB Draft League games this summer. Through 15 games and 53 at bats this summer, Ross has shown great improvement compared to 2025 (22 games, 65 ABs) with age when he hit .215 with a .679 OPS and .246 slugging percentage (.529 this summer).
Trentonβs Augie Lopez had an impressive week with a pair of home runs and a walk-off single. Just nine games into his Draft League season, he balances extra base power (6 in 24 at-bats) and a hard contact rate of 61.5% with strong plate discipline (8 BB vs 8 SO). A left-handed batter, heβs currently slashing .333/.514/.833. Also a versatile defender, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lopez has seen action in left field, first base and behind the plate this summer.
Thunder teammate Dominic Longo has also impressed with his hot start. Through 12 games the 6-foot-3, 205-pound shortstop is batting .400 with five extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases which surpasses his 36-game total of seven bags for Arizona State this past spring. With the sixth lowest chase rate in the league heβs walked (13) more times than heβs struck out (11) and has produced loud contact with a max EV of 107.0 mph.
West Virginiaβs Isaac Wachsmann leads the Draft League with four home runs and leads the Black Bears with 14 RBI. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound first baseman and recent UCLA transfer has produced a max EV of 108.6 mph and an elite line drive rate of 24.6%. Heβs also recorded the eleventh best EV90 at 101.4 mph so far this summer.
