NEW YORK -- The MLB Draft League announced that Trenton’s Ryland Zaborowski and State College’s Daniel Padysack were named Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period of June 1 to June 4.

Zaborowski, 21, earned Hitter of the Week honors for first week of the MLB Draft League season after batting .455 (5-for-11) with two home runs and six RBI in three games for the Thunder. He led all MLB Draft League hitters during the period in home runs, total bases (12), slugging (1.091) and OPS (1.691).

Zaborowski went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Opening Day and homered in back-to-back games, recording multiple hits in each, to close out the week. The corner infielder launched a grand slam as part of a 2-for-4 performance on Saturday and then added a solo shot on Sunday, finishing 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three walks in Trenton’s 18-16 win over Frederick. He struck out once in 15 plate appearances.

A Gilbert, Ariz., native, Zaborowski batted .300/.402/.696 as a Miami (OH) sophomore this past spring, leading the Mid-American Conference in both home runs (20) and slugging (.686). In addition, he tallied 51 RBIs and scored 52 runs in 52 games.

Padysack, 22, garnered Pitcher of the Week honors after posting two multi-inning relief appearances for the Spikes without allowing an earned run. The right-hander led all MLB Draft League pitchers with 11 strikeouts during the period – striking out 55 percent of all the batters he faced – and permitted just five hitters to reach base (0.80 WHIP).

Padysack earned the save for the Spikes on Opening Day by striking out three over two scoreless innings. Making his second appearance of the week on Sunday, Padysack racked up eight strikeouts across three innings, yielding one unearned run on one hit, one walk and one hit-by-pitch. The Prague, Czech Republic native enjoyed his best collegiate season as a senior this past spring as he led the Bucs’ pitching staff in ERA (3.19) and saves (2). Appearing in 16 games, including two starts, Padysack compiled 46 strikeouts against 20 walks in 42.1 innings while limiting the opposition to a .232 average.
