(Trenton, NJ) – The Black Bears of West Viriginia continued their dominance over the Thunder this season, this time winning game two 14-5 on Saturday night at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. With the Win West Virginia improves to 6-2 on the year against Trenton and won their third straight series against the Thunder.

The Black Bears opened the scoring in the second inning with two runs on a couple of hits. They did the same in the following inning to make it 4-0 West Virginia. The Thunder would at one point make it a two-run game, when Hyatt Regency Princeton Thunder Player of the Game Kolby Johnson scored the second run a SAC-fly from Anthony Abbatine. Johnson was 2-3 on the night with a run scored and a stolen base.

West Virginia was unphased by the deficit being split and responded by putting up a 10-spot between innings six through eight, that included a seven run eighth inning. In total the Black Bears stranded 12 runners on base but were 7-18 with runners in scoring position to combat their stranded rate. The Thunder left 11 on base and were just 3-13 with runners in scoring position. Most of the Thunders offensive success came in the bottom of the ninth when they put up three runs in a late rally attempt, but it wouldn’t be enough to come back in this one.

Your First Half Champion Thunder fell to 19-9 on the year before heading into the final game of the series with West Virginia.
