WEEK OF JULY 6
- Three-time All-Star Alex Bregman (2010 16U, 2011 18U, 2013 & 2014 Collegiate, 2017 & 2026 World Baseball Classic) is coming alive at the plate for the Chicago Cubs. Bregman tallied 10 RBIs last week and homered in back-to-back games against division rival Cincinnati over the weekend.
- Roch Cholowsky (2025 Collegiate) became the 39th USA Baseball national team alumnus to be selected first overall in the MLB Draft, when the Chicago White Sox selected him with the top pick on Saturday. Twenty Team USA alumni were selected in the first round in total, marking the third time since 1972 that 20 Team USA alumni have been drafted in the top round.
- New York Mets prospect Ryan Clifford (2015 12U, 2018 15U, 2021 18U) could get the call to the big leagues soon after swatting homers in back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday. Clifford also worked a walk in his lone plate appearance during the Futures Game on Sunday.
- Hunter Greene (2014 15U, 2015 & 2016 18U) was masterful for the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night in his second start of the season. The right flamethrower tossed seven shutout innings against the Cubs, racking up an impressive 12 strikeouts along the way. Greene allowed only three hits and one walk in the dominant showing.
- Bryce Rainer (2017 12U, 2023 18U) shows no signs of slowing down during his red-hot streak of hitting for the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps. The Detroit Tigers’ 2024 first-round pick went 5-for-5 with two doubles, one homer, six RBIs, and 10 total bases on Wednesday in the best performance of his professional career yet.
- Bryan Reynolds (2014 Collegiate) had a big week at the plate for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The two-time All-Star racked up six hits, two homers, four RBIs, and five walks on the week, good for a 1.058 OPS. Reynolds’s .877 OPS on the season leads all qualified Pirates hitters.
- Pirates ace Paul Skenes (2014 12U, 2021 & 2022 Collegiate, 2026 World Baseball Classic) returned to his winning ways in two starts. Skenes picked up the win against the Athletics on Tuesday when he allowed only two runs in six innings, then another against the Brewers with his seven-punchout performance on Sunday.
- Brice Turang (2014 15U, 2016 & 2017 18U, 2026 World Baseball Classic) continues to shine in his best offensive season yet. Last week, the Milwaukee Brewers star recorded three doubles, two homers, four walks, seven RBIs, and four runs. Turang’s 66 runs on the season rank third in the National League.
