CARY, N.C. – Day four of the 2025 Women’s National Team Development Program saw the Stars and Stripes collect dominant wins on Saturday, October 18, at Coleman Field. The Stripes set the tone with a 14-6 win, and the Stars capped off the day with a 13-2 victory.
The Stars’ and Stripes’ offenses were firing on all cylinders, as a combined 11 players tallied two or more hits on the day and the two teams combined for 30.
STRIPES 14, CANADA 6
AS IT HAPPENED
- The Stripes got off to a hot start by stringing together four consecutive hits to take an early advantage in the first inning. Valerie Perez and Jamie Baum led off the game with a double and single, respectively, and Denae Benites drove them in with a double to left field. Benites then crossed home plate on the next at-bat thanks to Mia Kruspe’s long single to left.
- In the second, Baum tallied her second hit of the day when she singled to left field and scored Amira Hondras, who led off the inning with a single and moved to second on an error.
- Canada responded in the bottom frame and cut its deficit in half with an RBI single by Lucie Anctil and an RBI double by Cassie Matlock with runners in scoring position.
- The Stripes plated another run in the third when Kruspe reached on an error, moved to third on an outfield single by Kylee Lahners, and scored on a 6-4 fielder’s choice.
- Canada made it a one-run game the fourth. With runners at the corners, an RBI double followed by a sacrifice fly scored a pair of runs.
- In the fifth, The Stripes used an error to bring home Lahners and Hondras from second and third after both reached on walks and moved into scoring position on another error.
- Lahners delivered again in the sixth with a 2-RBI double, scoring Madeline Tse, who ran for Benites after she singled, and Kruspe from first and second.
- Canada took advantage of defensive miscues by the Stripes and plated two runs in the seventh. Mikael Fields reached on an error and scored on Raine Padgham’s RBI triple to left for the first run. Another error allowed Padgham to trot home for the second run, but Canada’s deficit was too much to overcome late in the game.
NOTABLES
- Five different players turned in multi-hit outings. Baum and Hondras both went 3-for-3, while Benites, Kruspe, and Lahners each tallied two hits.
- Benites and Lahners both had a team-leading two RBIs in the contest, while Hondras scored a team-high three runs.
- Along with Baum’s efforts at the plate, she also did not give up an earned run in two innings of work to close out the game.
STARS 13, CANADA 2
AS IT HAPPENED
- Jamie Mackay belted a three-run home run in the first inning after Alexis Hastings hit a one-out triple and Alex Hugo walked. Then, after Sarah Johnson tripled to right field, an error brought her home to tack on a fourth run in the frame.
- Canada got on the board in the bottom half of the inning. A pair of walks started the frame, and then a single and error, followed by an RBI groundout, plated a pair of runs.
- The Stars responded in the second when Anna Kimbrell and Ashton Lansdell doubled and tripled, respectively, for the fourth and fifth extra-bases hits of the game. Following the triple, Hugo walked, and Mackay singled to allow Johnson to deliver an RBI single to right field and tack on another run.
- The Stars continued to pour it on in the third, stringing together five consecutive singles to score four runs. Remi Schaber hit a one-out double and came home on a single by Gabrielle Haas, which was followed by base hits from Kimbrell and Lansdell to plate Haas. Hastings then singled to drive in Kimbrell, and Hugo drew a bases-loaded walk to cap off the scoring.
- Schaber hit her second double of the game in the fourth inning, bringing home Mackay after she and Kaija Bazzano drew walks to start the side.
- The Stars tacked on its final run of the game in the sixth inning when Maggie Paulovich drove in Johnson, who reached on an error, with a single to left field.
NOTABLES
- Five different players had a two-hit performance: Hastings, Johnson, Kimbrell, Lansdell, and Mackay. Schaber led all players in the game with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI and a run scored.
- Mackay had a game-best three RBIs and Lansdell contributed two RBIs, while Hugo and Johnson scored a team-high two runs each.
- Elise Berger had a solid day on the mound, as she tossed three scoreless innings and struck out five batters while yielding just one hit and two walks.

- The 2025 WNTDP concludes on Sunday, October 19, when the Stripes and Stars face off one last time at 10 a.m. at Coleman Field and Canada will split its roster into two teams and go head-to-head on Field 4 at 11 a.m. All games will be streamed on USABaseball.TV and live scoring will be available on GameChanger.

- USA Baseball utilizes a modified scoring system for its development programs to achieve load management and mitigate potential injuries due to overuse for its athletes. Pitchers are subject to a maximum pitch count of 25 per inning during game play. In the event an inning is rolled because a pitcher has reached their maximum pitch count, runners on base may be contributed to the game score.
