CARY, N.C. – Cincinnati’s Kerrington Cross set three program records over the weekend in a ranked series sweep and has been named USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award Week 12 Player of the Week presented by Chinook Seedery and DI Baseball.
Cross helped the Bearcats sweep then-No. 25 Kansas on the road, going 9-for-17 (.529) with three home runs, 11 RBIs, and five runs scored. After a 2-for-5 outing with a run scored in a 7-2 series-opening win on May 2, Cross put together arguably the best single-game performance ever by a Bearcat hitter in an 18-14 extra-inning thriller to clinch the series.
Cross set a single-game school record with 10 RBIs and tied the single-game school records for home runs (three) and total bases (14). His first home run was a solo shot in the top of the first, his second homer was a three-run bomb in the top of the eighth that extended UC's lead, and his last home run of the game came in extra innings, another three-run homer that concluded his historic day. Cross' final line at the plate was 5-for-7 with three home runs, 10 RBIs, and two singles. His 10 RBIs were the most by a Big 12 player this season, and his three homers are tied for the most by a Big 12 player in 2025.
In the series finale, Cross turned in another 2-for-5 outing with a walk and a run scored to help Cincinnati cruise to a 13-4 win over Kansas and sweep the series.
