NEW YORK -- The MLB Draft League announced its 2025 schedule. The upcoming season will feature an 80-game regular season schedule split into two halves, commencing with Opening Day on Wednesday, June 4, and culminating with the Draft League Championship Game on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The first half of the 2025 season will run from June 4 through Saturday, July 12, and feature 34 games showcasing amateur talent ahead of the annual MLB Draft. The Draft League’s second half will start Wednesday, July 16, and finish Wednesday, Sept. 3, with professional players comprising the six Draft League teams’ rosters. The season will conclude with a winner-take-all championship game on Sept. 4, hosted by the first-half champion, in which the first- and second-half winners will compete for the title.

In May 2024, Major League Baseball extended its commitment to the Draft League through the 2030 season. The extension includes the potential for a two-team expansion throughout the agreement, further strengthening the league's role in the Player Development Pipeline.
Since its inception in 2021, the MLB Draft League has had nearly 300 alumni sign with MLB organizations. This includes 185 players selected in the annual 20-round MLB Draft and more than 120 others who have signed as free agents, including 11 professional players from the second half whose contracts were purchased by Major League clubs. As of the end of the 2024 season, four Draft League alums have debuted in the Major Leagues, while another 67 players are currently competing at the Double-A level or higher.
The 2024 season marked a record-breaking year for the Draft League, with 52 players selected in the MLB Draft, surpassing the previous high of 47 picks in both 2021 and 2023. Additionally, a record 36 players who participated in the first half of the 2024 season were selected during the three-day Draft event. Among them were five high school players, setting a new Draft League benchmark after the league produced six prep selections in the 2022 and 2023 MLB Drafts combined.
The 2024 MLB Draft League champion Williamsport Crosscutters will open their title defense on the road with a two-game series against the Trenton Thunder, followed by their home opener -- a three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers beginning Friday, June 6. The West Virginia Black Bears captured back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, while Trenton won the inaugural Draft League championship in 2021.
