For the second straight night, the Scrappers able to walk off the Crosscutters in the ninth, winning 4-3 on a walk off single by Cayden Evans.
The Scrappers got a first inning run, as Cooper Vance drove in Maddox Mihalakis on a groundout after Mihalakis tripled the at bat prior.
Another run would score for Mahoning Valley in the third inning, as Cooper Vance legged out an infield single with two outs and runners on first and second. After the throw was late, Jordan Taylor, the runner on second, took a hard round at third and would sneak into the plate to score, making it 2-0.
Blake Lobell got the start for the Scrappers and was lockdown the first five innings, allowing no runs to score. That would change in the sixth, when he gave up an RBI triple to Nick Barrone and a sacrifice fly by Jack Kail tied the game at two.
Lobell would exit after six innings, allowing the two runs and striking out three batters.
The Scrappers would get the lead right back, as Tervell Johnson recorded his first extra base hit and RBI of the season on a double to deep center field, scoring the go ahead run to make it 3-2.
Williamsport would find a way to tie it in the eighth, as Kail singled into right field to score a run from third, making it 3-3.
That score would hold until the bottom of the ninth. Taylor led off the inning with a double and would advance to second after a sacrifice bunt by Davis Mauzy. Williamsport would then intentionally walk Mihalakis and Vance to load the bases, putting a force out anywhere and hoping for a double play ball to end the inning.
Zion Williams would strike out, leaving the bases loaded and two outs for Cayden Evans, who delivered the heroic hit with a ground ball base hit into right field, scoring the winning run to give the Scrappers a 4-3 win.
Reagan Rivera would get the winning decision after pitching a clean ninth to preserve the tie for a second straight night. Mahoning Valley now travels to Morgantown, WV for a two game weekend series against the Black Bears.
