In the home finale of the 2026 Draft League season, the Scrappers sent the fans home happy with a 6-5 win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
Early in the game, pitching was the story. The first runs came in the third inning courtesy of a two run triple by Jaden Hylton and an RBI single for Maddox Mihalakis. For Mihalakis, the single brought him to 40 RBI on the season, and made it 3-0 Scrappers.
Nobody would reach base for either team until the sixth inning, when Mahoning Valley got a pair of two out hits. An RBI double from Zion Williams and a two run single from Jason Torres made it 6-0 after six.
Eli Edds got the ball to start for the Scrappers, seeking his first professional win as the pitcher of record, and he delivered. Edds cruised through the first seven innings, allowing just two hits and one walk, and retiring the side in order in five of those seven innings.
In the eighth, the Ironbirds made a ferocious comeback attempt. They would load the bases with one out against Edds, who would be pulled at 100 pitches after 7.1 innings. Julian Pokorny relieved him, and Aberdeen was able to string together four hits in the inning off Pokorny, leading to five runs and making it 6-5.
Reagan Rivera was then called upon by Raul Gonzalez to record a four out save. Rivers had been 0-5 in save opportunities prior to tonight, but he delivered for Mahoning Valley, getting the final out in the eighth to strand the tying and go ahead runners on base, and retired the side in order in the ninth to lock down the win.
It was the first win in 16 professional starts across the Appalachian League and the Draft League for Edds, and the first save of the 2026 season for Rivera, as the Scrappers ended the 2026 home schedule on a high note.
They still have three games remaining on the schedule, as they travel to West Virginia to wrap up the 2026 season with a three game series against the Black Bears.
