Monday
West Virginia (8) vs Mahoning Valley (2): BOX SCORE - Alex Ungar and Jake Berg’s offensive production helped lead the Black Bears in their home win for the league’s first Monday slate of games this summer. Ungar produced loud contact all game starting with a 106-mph double off the center field wall in the second, later scoring on a throwing error when stealing third. Then in the fifth, he would go the other way for an RBI triple at 103.6 mph, going on to end the day 2-for-4 with the extra base hits, one RBI, run and stolen base. Berg would reach in all four plate appearances with a two-run single in the third and finished the day 2-for-2 with those two RBI, a walk and hit by pitch. The Scrappers offense showed fight in the fifth inning behind back-to-back-to-back doubles with two outs by Dreylin Holmes, Brock Olmstead and Tommy Rover, driving in Mahoning Valley’s only two runs of the game.
Williamsport (5) @ Trenton (2): BOX SCORE - After being named Pitcher of the Week, Colton Cosper continued to cruise through opposing lineups with six shutout-innings where he struck out five. Matt Flaherty paced the Crosscutters offense with a 3-for-4 day, a double and two RBI, with the double leaving the bat at 109 mph. Before Flaherty’s second RBI, the Thunder looked to rally in the seventh as Cameron Yuran delivered a pinch-hit two-run homer to right center at 399 feet with an exit velocity of 97.7 mph.
State College (5) @ Frederick (4): BOX SCORE - The Spikes won their fourth straight to move to 4-1 in the second half behind late-inning heroics by Manny Jackson. Initially giving State College a 2-1 lead in the second inning, he would come up to the plate in the eighth with two runners on and two outs. Falling behind in the count 0-2, Jackson would take a lefty/lefty slider to right for the game-winning home run (383 ft, 97.9-mph exit velocity). In the bottom half of the ninth, Frederick built up a rally after Devan Bade drove in Cam Pittman on a double to bring the Keys within one. With runners on first and second, Jack Hagans would get out two via strikeout that followed with a wild pitch to the next batter, advancing the runners one base but would not result in a run after getting the batter to ground out to third.
Tuesday
Trenton (6) vs Williamsport (3): BOX SCORE - The Thunder snapped a three-game skid in Tuesday’s matinee behind the resilience of Jackson Tucker and combined 10 strikeouts. Tucker, Trenton’s leadoff man, started the offensive production with a single in the first and then came around to score on a Connor Maryniak single. On the single, a broken bat came down the third base line and struck Tucker in the leg, however, would stay in the game and continue to produce, ending his day 4-for-5 with an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. After the Crosscutters tied in the fifth, Jared Beebe hit a sharp liner to left at 101.9 mph to retake the lead for the Thunder that they would extend and hold onto for the win.
West Virginia (10) vs Mahoning Valley (7): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears swept the two-game set after a comeback victory after trailing as much as 7-3. After doubling and tripling the game prior, Alex Ungar gave West Virginia an early 2-1 lead in the first with a two-run home run (399 ft, 104.3-mph exit velocity) to right center field. Ungar would then score two more times with another hit, two walks and a stolen base. In the fourth, defending Hitter of the Week Matthew Rivera drilled his third home run of the summer at 108.2 mph off the bat (380 ft), driving in three runs. Carson Hornung would then record his second RBI double to drive in two and give the Scrappers their lead of 7-3 in the top of the sixth. After West Virginia scored two in the bottom of the sixth, they would then score five in the seventh on a walk, hit by pitch and three-run single by DeMarckus Smiley to make the score 10-7. In for the save, Wes Burton would strike out the side to close out the Black Bears’ second consecutive win.
State College (16) @ Frederick (12): BOX SCORE - Five home runs were slugged between the two teams as the Spikes extended their lead in the MLB Draft League standings. Cam Hassert led the slugfest off with a two-run shot (351 ft, 100.7 mph) for his second of the summer in the first inning to give the Keys a 2-0 lead. With the Spikes trailing 5-1 in the fourth, Manny Jackson pulled his second homer in as many games (384 ft, 102.1 mph) to drive in two as well. Tied 5-5 in the fifth, Dan Tauken delivered the game’s third two-run home run (398 ft, 103.5 mph exit velocity) to give the Spikes the lead. Taj Bates would then deliver his own two-run homer in the seventh (371 ft, 96.6-mph exit velocity) as Frederick attempted to rally with the Keys’ catcher making it a 13-7 game. The final home run would come in the ninth as Frederick looked to rally with a three-run homer to left by Devan Bade (384 ft, 98.4-mph exit velocity) for his first of the summer.
Wednesday
Trenton (15) @ State College (3): BOX SCORE - The Spikes five-game win streak came to an end after an offensive explosion by the Thunder that was taken over by their outfielders. Leading off, Jackson Tucker tied the 2025 single-game high with five RBI as he went 3-for-6 with a double, two runs and a stolen base. Tucker’s total production all came before the fifth inning, going 3-for-4 before the halfway point of the game. Behind the Trenton center fielder, John Schroeder in left went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, a run and two walks with right fielder Cameron Yuran having a multi-RBI day himself with three on two hits in four at bats and a run.
West Virginia (8) @ Williamsport (1): BOX SCORE - Jason Bollman put together the first complete game in the 2025 MLB Draft League season with nine strikeouts, no walks and one unearned run. Making his MLB Draft League debut, the Black Bears starter’s nine strikeouts tied the single-game high this year, but he was the only pitcher amongst the four to not walk a batter and have zero earned runs. It was also the first complete game without an earned run since a Aug. 7, 2024, when Jake Curtis (Frederick) tossed a shutout. Along with Bollman’s start, Alex Ungar continued to drive the ball and bring an all-around performance to the game as he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs and two stolen bases with a two-run homer (387 ft, 105.7-mph exit velocity) for his second in as many games.
Mahoning Valley (12) vs Frederick (6): BOX SCORE - Carson Hornung recorded his second consecutive three-RBI game with a three hit night to lead the Scrappers in Niles, Ohio. While credited with three RBI, the Scrappers first baseman had three swings that resulted in five runs scored with three runs scored on a single and an error in the first, a single to score one in the fourth and a force out in the sixth. Behind Hornung, Matthew Rivera drove in a run in the sixth with a 108.6-mph single, making it his second consecutive game with a 108+ mph RBI after a home run the night before. For the Keys, Trey Lipsey returned to the lineup and immediately made an impact with a 2-for-4 performance with a double to lead off the game, a stolen base and two runs scored.
Thursday
Trenton (6) @ State College (3): BOX SCORE - The matinee between the Thunder and Spikes featured two of the stronger starting pitching performances in the 2025 season. For Trenton, Xavier Lovett made his longest outing since before his freshman year of college and became the quickest MLB Draft League pitcher to nine strikeouts in a game at five innings. The Mizzou product became the fifth pitcher to reach the nine-strikeout mark, allowing one run on three hits and two walks. Taking the mound opposite of Lovett, Alec Sparks’ six innings placed him in the group behind Trenton’s righty with eight strikeouts on two hits, two walks, and two unearned runs. When both pitchers were removed, the Thunder led, 2-1, entering the seventh inning until Jared Beebe welcomed the new Spikes’ reliever with a leadoff solo homer down the left field line (352 ft, 99.7-mph exit velocity) on an inside sinker. In the bottom half, State College would tie the game at three on an Adonis Forte single and wild pitch before the eighth inning presented a two-run double by pinch-hitting Evin Sullivan to drive in the game-winning runs.
West Virginia (3*) @ Williamsport (3) Sudden Death Extra Inning: BOX SCORE - The Black Bears followed up complete game from the day before with a sudden-death, extra-inning walk-off after being down 3-0 through six innings. Starting the game, Jackson Mayo delivered his first home run of the summer (358 ft, 93.3-mph exit velocity) in the bottom of the first to the opposite field. Pitching for the Crosscutters, Brad Rudis put together his longest start of the summer with five strikeouts over six shutout-innings before handing the ball off to what would be West Virginia’s rally. Back-to-back walks and a fielder’s choice made the game 3-1 for David Coppedge to line a double to center field that would tie the game and force the extra inning of play. West Virginia would be the offensive team and eventually load the bases for Judah Morris who would enter as a pinch-hitter for his first taste of action since being removed in the first game of the second half. Morris would then line a 105-mph single to left center for the walk-off victory.
Frederick (13) @ Mahoning Valley (6): BOX SCORE - The Keys flipped the score from Wednesday’s game behind multi-RBI performances from Trey Lipsey and Bronson Rivera. The two came together to drive in the game’s first run as Rivera singles to right and scored Lipsey after being hit by a pitch and stealing second. Lipsey would end the night 1-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, a stolen base and a second run that came in after his two-run triple via wild pitch in the second. Rivera would finish 3-for-6 with the double, three RBI and one run. After the Scrappers score three in the third and a Chase Nixon home run (361 ft, 98.3-mph exit velocity) to lead off the fourth, Anderson Cuello-Batista entered in long relief with 3 1/3 innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts and one unearned run as the Keys would score four more runs before the final out.
Friday
Mahoning Valley (7) vs Frederick (6): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers took the series over the Keys behind an eighth inning rally and thwarting a Frederick rally in the ninth. Mahoning Valley’s Ian Francis led the way with a 3-for-4 day on two doubles, two RBI and one run, including the first score of the game and a game-tying double in the fifth. Chase Nixon also had a two-RBI game, going 3-for-5 with a run scored on Francis’ single in the first. With the Keys leading by one in the eighth, Hayden Moore tripled to tie the game at five, scoring on a Brock Olmstead single for the lead and Nixon driving him in to make it a 7-5 game. In the ninth, Frederick put together a small rally on an error, wild pitch and an Isaiah Greene RBI double before one out was recorded. However, Grant Manning would retire the next three in order to secure the win for the Scrappers.
State College (3*) vs Trenton (3) Sudden Death Extra Inning: BOX SCORE - State College avoided being swept at home through walking it off in the sudden death extra inning. Michael Quevedo kept the Thunder offense relatively quiet throughout the game as he worked 3 2/3 innings of no-hit ball until Connor Maryniak hit his second home run of the summer (406 ft, 102.5-mph exit velocity) for a two-run shot. It was the Spikes’ starter only runs allowed with three total hits in 5 2/3 innings as he ended the game as the league leader amongst qualified pitchers in batting average against at .114. For the Thunder, Brian Young and JJ Almeda combined for nine strikeouts in 7 2/3 shutout innings in regulation, each allowing two hits. In between their time on the mound, the Spikes took the lead with three runs in the seventh and Trenton would tie in the eighth. In the sudden death extra inning, Cole Caruso walked it off on a sac fly to right field.
West Virginia (6) @ Williamsport (2) Called in Sixth Inning: BOX SCORE - Shortened by rain and unplayable conditions in the top of the sixth, the Black Bears were able to come out of the series on top. Rayth Petersen scored both of the Crosscutters' runs after scoring in the second inning on a sac fly, and depositing his second home run of the summer to left (370 ft, 94.3-mph exit velocity) in the fourth inning. In the third and fifth, West Virginia would add their runs behind a 2-for-3 day from Jordan Peyton who drove in and scored a run in the third and a run in the fifth in front of Landon Frei, who tripled, drove in a run, scored a run and stole a base.
Saturday
Williamsport (3) @ State College (1): BOX SCORE - Making his second start since being named the MLB Draft League’s Pitcher of the Week, Colton Cosper extended his shutout streak to 14 1/3 innings as he struck out seven in six on two hits. Opposite of him, Carsten Herman made his first appearance with the Spikes, striking out six in four innings with three hits and two unearned runs that came off of Jackson Mayo’s second home run in his last three games. Mayo was responsible for all the Crosscutter runs with his two-run homer in the third (369 ft, 103.2-mph exit velocity) and his RBI double in the fifth. After a Cole Caruso RBI double in the seventh, Jax Howard secured the last six outs for Williamsport, throwing two perfect innings with three strikeouts for the save.
West Virginia (6) vs Frederick (2): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears scored on all four base-hit types to support a seven-strikeout effort by Gavin Braunecker. In the second inning, J.T. Carter hit a ground-rule double to left field, followed by a David Coppedge sac fly. Coppedge then tripled to retake the lead after an Isaiah Greene two-run double in the fourth. Drew Collins then deposited a two-run homer the opposite way to left (371 ft, 97.7-mph exit velocity), and Landon Frei singled in the eighth to drive in West Virginia’s sixth run.
Trenton (9) @ Mahoning Valley (3): BOX SCORE - Three-hit performances and eight strikeouts by Brendan Parks helped propel the Thunder to a road victory over the Scrappers. Cameron Yuran led the game with three hits in five at-bats, including two doubles and RBI as well as one run followed by CJ Willis going 3-for-4 with two runs. Added to the Thunder nine-run offensive display, Connor Maryniak hit his second home run in as many games with a 408 ft (102.5-mph exit velocity) solo shot to center. The Scrappers offense would come in the bottom of the fifth as Dreylin Holmes delivered his second home run of the summer with a 372 footer (101.3-mph exit velocity) to left center to drive in all three runs for the home team.
Sunday
Mahoning Valley (6) vs Trenton (1): BOX SCORE - Min-Seong Jeong put together a strong outing after allowing 12 runs (11 earned) through his first 7 2/3 innings with the Scrappers, going six shutout innings with four strikeouts and allowing one hit. Mahoning Valley would hold its lead throughout the game after Max Johnson brought in a run in the third and singled in another in the fifth. That was followed by Patrick Roche driving in two. The Thunder would score one in the seventh, but Dreylin Holmes put the game out of reach with his third home run of the week and second in as many games (376 ft, 101.1-mph exit velocity) in the eighth inning.
West Virginia (6) vs Frederick (1): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears finished the week at a perfect 7-0 after striking early and only allowing three hits. David Coppedge went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI coming in the bottom of the first and fifth for West Virginia, his second consecutive game with an extra base hit and two runs batted in. The six pitchers used by West Virginia were highlighted by Cameron LeJeune’s four strikeouts in two innings and Wes Burton’s three in one. After surrendering a hit to their first batter, both pitchers would then strike out the next three in order. For Frederick, Harold Baez was the only pitcher to not allow a run with two no-hit innings and one strikeout.
Williamsport (12) @ State College (8): BOX SCORE - Nine extra base hits were slugged and 11 bases were stolen between the two teams in the week’s finale. Williamsport’s Vantrel Reed and Jackson Mayo along with State College’s Trotter Boston each stole two bases, all of second besides Reed in the first taking home on a Mayo steal of second in the first inning. Mayo finished the day 2-for-6 with his third home run of the week (391 ft, 97.1-mph exit velocity) and second in as many days during his last at bat of the game in the eighth. The Crosscutter’s homer would be the first as State College’s Cole Caruso deposited his first of the summer deep to left field at 408 ft (101.1-mph exit velocity) with a ninth inning blast by Marquis Jackson (388 ft, 101.8-mph exit velocity) to extend Williamsport’s lead to the final score of 12-8.
