Wednesday

Trenton (8) @ Williamsport (3): BOX SCORE - The Trenton Thunder opened the second half of the 2025 season with a road victory behind a strong offensive performance from Connor Maryniak. The Charlotte graduate was responsible for three of Trenton’s first four runs after being hit by a pitch in the second, homering in the sixth (376 ft, 95-mph exit velocity), and doubling in the seventh. For the Crosscutters, Colton Cosper’s start ended with a no-decision after five innings with eight strikeouts to be the seventh pitcher to reach that number across both halves this summer. At the plate, Joey Parliment slugged the first home run of the second half with a two-run shot in the fourth at 406 feet with an exit velocity of 101.8 mph.

Mahoning Valley (12) vs Frederick (2): BOX SCORE - Returning to the Scrappers after playing in the first half of 2024, Matthew Rivera showed up with more power as he was the first this summer to hit two home runs in one game. His first came in the second inning to drive in the first three runs of the game at 392 feet to left center with an exit velocity of 103.7 mph. His second would come in the eighth inning as the game’s final runs to make it 12-2 at 394 feet at 102.2 mph off the bat. Paired with Rivera’s five-RBI game, Patrick Roche drove in three runs for the Scrappers on three hits as one of the handful of players to play in the first and second half of 2025. The Scrappers would only use two pitchers in the game as Nolan Coil lasted seven innings with four strikeouts and one earned run from Bronson Rivera’s home run in the fourth (369 ft, 98.7 mph exit velocity), and Trent Harris securing the final six outs of the game.

Thursday

Mahoning Valley (5) vs Frederick (4): BOX SCORE - Trailing 4-2 entering the seventh inning, the Scrappers were able to start the second half with back-to-back wins after a walk-off single by Tommy Rover. Joining the Keys that day after a 14-hour trip, Cam Hassert put together a strong debut at 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Following up his two-homer game, Matthew Rivera recorded two more RBI on two hits, the first to tie in the third and second in the seventh to bring the Scrappers within one. Mahoning Valley would tie the game on a wild pitch in the eighth and have runners on first and second with one out for Rover to lace a single into center and drive in Rivera as the winning run.

Williamsport (4) vs Trenton (3): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters would snap their 12-game losing streak on two swings at home with a three-run fifth and the go-ahead single in the seventh. For Trenton, Jackson Tucker recorded the second five-steal game in the 2025 season after reaching base in all five plate appearances and promptly stealing second after. After Tucker scored and an RBI-single from CJ Willis to give Trenton a 2-0 lead, Michael Zarrillo would rip a double to right with the bases loaded and drive all three runs in in the bottom of the fifth. The seventh inning started with Trenton tying the game on a John Schroeder sac fly and capped by Jackson Mayo retaking the lead for Williamsport with a single to center. Jed Boyle would then secure the six-out save, ending both innings with stranded runners in scoring position as he closed out the game with a called strike-three on the inside corner.

West Virginia (10) @ State College (8): BOX SCORE - After a rain-out on Wednesday, the Black Bears featured an offensive explosion against the first half champions and fended off their late rally. Judah Morris flexed his muscle from the very beginning with a 419-foot blast off the batters eye on the first pitch he saw (105.7-mph exit velocity) and followed it up in the fourth with his second of the game to right center (369 ft, 103.1-mph exit velocity). Morris ended the night 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs, marking the second multi-homer game of the 2025 season across the league after Matthew Rivera did so the night before in Mahoning Valley. Entering the bottom of the sixth, the Spikes were tailing 9-2 but would rally to finish the eighth down by one as Cole Caruso delivered two singles that drove in three runs in the sixth and eighth. However, Joe Steeber would only allow the second single from Caruso and retire the side in the ninth for the Black Bears to open their second half schedule with the win.

Friday

Trenton (7) @ Williamsport (4): BOX SCORE - Each team had their own hitter to shine with multi-RBI games with Trenton’s Andres Vega and Williamsport’s Jackson Mayo. Vega contributed to six of the Thunder’s seven runs as he ended the night 2-for-4 with five RBI and scored one run. His first hit of the night was a triple in the fourth to clear the bases and drive in three runs, and the second a single in the eighth to drive in two. The Thunder second baseman also stole a base in the sixth after reaching on an error. Mayo would produce all the Crosscutters’ runs with a 3-for-5 day, doubling in the third to drive in two and another in the seventh that did the same. Both doubles drove in TJ Racherbaumer and Vantrel Reed.

State College (13) vs West Virginia (3): BOX SCORE - State College bounced back from their loss with double-digit runs themselves behind the offensive production from Dan Tauken and start from Ahmad Harajli. After the Spikes took a 5-0 lead through the first three innings behind Cole Caruso and Trotter Boston run-producing and leading extra base hits, Tauken would record three of his five RBI with a 399-foot blast to center (101.1-mph exit velocity) with two more on singles in the third and seventh. Harajli made his first start of the second half and made light work of the Black Bears through five innings with seven strikeouts on two hits and three runs scored, all unearned. For the Black Bears, Drew Collins contributed one of their three runs along with four stolen bases after reaching four times on a hit and three walks.

Frederick (19) @ Mahoning Valley (6): BOX SCORE - Seven of the Keys 19 runs featured Cam Hassert playing a role as he went 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI and three runs. The first inning was an RBI single, a sac fly in the second, RBI double in the fourth leading to a run, reaching on an error that led to a run and scoring another himself in the fifth, and an RBI double in the eighth. Along with Hassert, three other Keys would put together multi-RBI days from Bronson Rivera (2-for-5, 2 RBI, 4 runs), Dillon Souvignier (2-for-5, two RBI, two runs, three SBs) and Dylan Symonds (1-for-5, two RBI, one run). Symonds multi-RBI effort would be the only Key to not have more than two hits in the game. For the Scrappers, Carson Hornung and Tommy Rover were responsible for five of the team’s six RBI, both having run-producing doubles.

Saturday

State College (7) @ Trenton (1): BOX SCORE - Continuing an impressive week, Dan Tauken was the game’s leading offensive producer with a 2-for-3 day with an RBI, two runs, a double and a stolen base. Tied 1-1 on the backs of impressive starts from Trenton’s Brian Young and Alec Sparks, the Spikes would break the deadlock in the seventh after a leadoff triple from Jakobi Davis and scoring on a Cole Caruso single the next at bat, kicking off a five-run inning with one more added in the ninth for good measure.

Frederick (17) vs West Virginia (6): BOX SCORE - Frederick put up back-to-back games of 10+ runs behind dominant offensive performances from Irvin Escobar and Dillon Souvignier with five innings of one-run ball from Jake Hunter. Escobar would end the day 4-for-6 with five RBI and a run, each time the Keys’ catcher put the ball in play, a run would score. Souvignier finished responsible for the same amount of runs with three RBI and scoring three times to go with his three singles. Hunter’s five innings saw six strikeouts, the second-most in a single game by the Frederick righthander in his seven appearances and four starts this summer. West Virginia’s offense would be highlighted by a two-run homer from David Coppedge in the eighth inning (363 ft, 103.3-mph exit velocity) as the Black Bears’ final runs of the game.

Williamsport (8) vs Mahoning Valley (4): BOX SCORE - The left field wall saw plenty of action as the Crosscutters and Scrappers put together a combined three home runs. Vantrel Reed (2-for-4, 2 RBI, R, SB) tied the game for Williamsport with the first in the first for a solo home run at 352 feet (93.3-mph exit velocity). In the third, Seung-Jun Cha (2-for-5, two RBI, 2 R, SB) would give the Scrappers a 4-2 lead with a two-run homer at 339 feet (93.4 mph exit velocity). The final would be Rayth Petersen’s (3-for-4, three RBI, R, SB) three-run shot in the sixth (345 ft, 91.2-mph exit velocity). to solidify the Crosscutters’ home win to extend the score 8-4.

Sunday

Frederick (9) vs West Virginia (8): BOX SCORE - The Keys took their third consecutive game to close out the week in walk-off fashion with two outs in the ninth. Jamal Ritter led the way for Frederick going 4-for-5 with an RBI, three runs and two stolen bases. The Keys’ centerfielder’s first hit tied the game in the second as his lone RBI, later scoring in the inning to extend the lead 3-1. In the third, he would score to make it a 6-3 game, and then score the game-winning run in the ninth off a Devan Bade single over the first baseman. It was Bade’s second RBI of the game where he went 3-for-4 with a run. Also with two RBI for the Keys was Cam Hassert who drove in two with his first home run of the season to right center (393 ft, 98.2-mph exit velocity), driving in two for his RBI total. For the Black Bears, three players put together multi-RBI performances in David Coppedge (3 RBI, 2-for-4), Alex Rodgers (2, 1-for-2) and Jake Berg (2, 2-for-3).

Williamsport (8) vs Mahoning Valley (6): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters took both games of the weekend set with another eight run game behind another three-hit day from Rayth Petersen. The Williamsport shortstop’s three hits included two doubles, with an RBI and finished the day with three runs. Behind him, Jackson Mayo went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs with a stolen base. For the Scrappers, Seung-Jun Cha homered for the second time in as many games with a solo shot to right center at 424 feet (103.4-mph exit velocity) to bring Mahoning Valley within two in the fourth.

State College (6) @ Trenton (2): BOX SCORE - Working on a combined no-hitter through seven innings, the Spikes closed out the week with a road victory and finished .500 on the week. Michael Quevedo and Carter Holjes were the two pitchers that didn’t allow a hit for the Spikes with Quevedo’s start lasting five innings with six strikeouts and Holjes going two innings with two. All six runs for the Spikes came in pairs with two in the first, fourth and fifth innings. The first inning saw an executed steal of first and third as Adonis Forte scored with another scoring on a groundout. The fourth inning pair came from a two-run homer from T.J. Salvaggio with a 385-foot blast to left center at 97.6 mph off the bat. Cole Caruso would single in the final two runs in the fifth inning to end the day with three RBI, having his first on the groundout in the first inning.
