
Five former State College Spikes players will be featured when all 30 Major League Baseball teams showcase their future stars against one another in the second annual set of Spring Breakout games in Florida and Arizona this week.
The slate of 16 different prospect showcase games will run from March 13-16, with the quintet of Spikes alums set for the first two days of the Spring Breakout schedule in Florida's Grapefruit League, taking another step on the Road to the Show presented by HRI, Inc.
The best-on-best contests begin on Thursday, March 13 when the Tampa Bay Rays host the Boston Red Sox in Port Charlotte, Fla. with a 7:05 p.m. start. The Rays will boast two Spikes alums as 2021 Spikes catcher Kenny Piper makes his second straight Spring Breakout roster appearance. Piper will be joined by another Spring Breakout returnee in 2022 Spikes infielder Will Simpson, who participated in the event for the Athletics last year.
The following day, the St. Louis Cardinals will meet the Miami Marlins at the teams' shared Spring Training home in Jupiter, Fla. for a 12:10 p.m. afternoon tilt. 2021 Spikes outfielder Nathan Church will be among the future stars scheduled to take the field for the Cardinals.
The Spikes' corps of Spring Breakout participants is rounded out by a pair of Philadelphia Phillies farmhands will represent the club against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, March 14 at 1:05 p.m. in Clearwater, Fla. Right-handed pitchers Daniel Harper and Casey Steward each began their Road to the Show presented by HRI, Inc. with the Spikes in 2022 before being drafted, and each of them will be ready to take on the Bucs.

Fans can see more of baseball's future stars in their backyard during a jam-packed 2025 Spikes regular season home schedule featuring 40 home dates beginning with Opening Night presented by PSECU on Friday, June 6 and running all the way through Thursday, August 28. Elgses Night has already been announced to join the fun on Saturday, August 23, with more promotions and special events on the 2025 calendar at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to be announced over the coming weeks.
