Game 35 (26-CROSSCUTTERS-MSmarkusky) 6332

BOX SCORE/GAME SUMMARY

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Justin Journette smashed his ninth home run of the season to put an exclamation mark on the State College Spikes’ 20th Anniversary Season as they defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters, 8-4, in the 2026 season finale on Tuesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Journette’s solo shot in the eighth gave the Spikes (26-20 2nd Half) an 8-2 lead and gave him his 45th run batted in for the season, making him one of three Spikes to finish the season with over 40 RBI’s. Camden Ross, who drove in two more runs on RBI singles in the fifth and sixth, finished the season with 47 RBI’s, while CJ Richmond, who did not play on Tuesday, set a new Spikes record with 51 RBI’s, topping the 50 produced by David Washington in 2013.

Haden Luke (4-1) finished his season with a strong start. The right-hander withstood solo homers from Williamsport’s (27-19 2nd Half) Jack Kail in the second and Trey Wells in the fourth to go five innings and post six strikeouts, giving him the MLB Draft League lead in that category for the second half of the season with 53. Luke allowed a total of four hits, two walks and a hit batsman in the win.

Williamsport starter Joel Tornero (1-2) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits and six walks over 4 2/3 innings. Tornero struck out six batters in the effort.

The Spikes finished the second half just a half-game back of the Aberdeen IronBirds, who will now face the Crosscutters in the MLB Draft League Championship Game on Wednesday night at Medlar FIeld at Lubrano Park.
