OC Coastal Scout Team starting pitcher Benjamin Martinez recorded arguably the most impressive performance of the day and the tournament as a whole after a heroic effort on Saturday morning. On the mound, Martinez posted 7.0 innings of one-run baseball, striking out six and scattering just two hits. Offensively, Martinez provided himself a little insurance at the plate too, blasting a solo home run in the top of the fifth on the way to a 4-2 win in a herculean individual effort.

Marucci Sting 12, Stacked 17U 2
Jaxson Garvey
was the story in Marucci Sting’s lopsided 12-2 victory. The Sting starter spun a complete game no-hitter with seven strikeouts, two walks and two unearned runs. Five different players collected a multi-hit game, where designated hitter Sean Simon sprayed the ball all over the yard in a 3-for-4 effort at the plate in the win.

GBG Vegas 2027 6, NorCal U Cardinal 5
A back-and-forth affair between GBG Vegas 2027 and NorCal U Cardinal made for an electric finish with GBG Vegas pulling away in the later stages of the contest. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs while trailing 5-4, TJ Otis stepped up to the plate and ripped a clutch two-run double to flip the script and put GBG on top 6-5 on its last life. Pitcher Payton Bryan came in to slam the door in the top of the seventh, sending NorCal down in one-two-three fashion to cap off an emphatic late-game comeback and advance to the round of 16.

While trailing 5-4 in the top of the seventh with two outs, an otherworldly offensive display from Canes West National defied the odds with its backs on the wall. Canes West went on to plate eight runs — all with two outs — to completely change the course of its entire tournament trajectory and advance to the round of 16.

A pitchers’ duel headlined the morning tilt between CBA Marucci and So Cal Birds White with CBA’s Logan Anderson leading the way. The Marucci starter logged a complete game on the mound, surrendering just four hits while striking out five compared to just one walk. The duo of Lukas Waite and Jacob Melendez got it done at the bottom of the order with each of them recording a single and an RBI, respectively.

Wildcatters National 2027 jumped out to an immediate 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back from there. Designated hitter Joseph Cardona collected a pair of hits in addition to three RBIs from the cleanup spot in the Wildcatters lineup to apply the pressure to Team Cal. Karson Schulz took the ball in the sixth inning and provided two innings of shutout baseball to bolt down the 6-2 win for Wildcatters National.

An offensive barrage from AZBC 2027 needed just four innings to put a lid on its round of 32 matchup against Trosky USA. The AZBC bats recorded 14 runs on 14 hits, including a combined six RBIs from Jacoby Noble and Braden Sclink after each totaling three apiece.

Drake Budzinski-Stauffer provided a huge spark from the bottom of the CBA / SSC order, where he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Pitcher Colson Street was stellar in relief, following up starter Joey Dormann’s seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work with another seven strikeouts himself across 3.0 innings as the duo combined to run up 14 punchouts opposed to just three walks in the win.

The Swarm Elite Red Premier bats provided starting pitcher Ben Hofmeister plenty of support, as the offense totaled 11 hits and seven runs to back Hofmeister’s outing that included nine strikeouts in 5.0 innings as the team advanced to the round of 16 after a 7-2 victory.

Pitcher Ricky Aguilar dazzled on the hill for San Diego Show National, working through 6.1 innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts opposed to zero walks issued. Eight of the nine batters penciled into the lineup for San Diego recorded at least one hit, where five different players picked up a multi-hit effort in the 8-1 win over Team Kado / Bellinger.

CBA Marucci American turned in a clean game across the board with eight runs, nine hits and no errors to advance into the round of 16. Pitcher LJ Smith logged all 6.0 innings in the contest, allowing just four hits while striking out four to keep Prime out of the run column.

Diablo Valley Oaks Elite 6, ZT Prospects 3
Late-game heroics from Diablo Valley Oaks propelled them to a decisive 6-3 victory over ZT Prospects after scoring all six of its runs in the sixth and seventh innings. MBA Navy 8, 5 Star West 2027 3
MBA Navy set the tone from the jump, plating four runs in the bottom of the first and cruising to a comfortable 8-3 win over 5 Star West 2027. The offense piled up 13 hits, which included four for extra bases. Three different pitchers combined to strikeout 12 and keep 5 Star West in the rear view en route to the round of 16

led all categories in a dominant win for GBG 2027 National, posting an impressive three hits, three RBI’s, and three runs scored in only three plate appearances. BPA Black scored all their runs in the top of the third, snagging the lead away early. GBG National immediately responded by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the inning and ended the game in run rule fashion in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Luke Overbay.

Jason Kidd Select 8, OC Coastal Scout Team 0
With eight runs scored by eight different players, Jason Kidd Select continued to show off their dominant offensive production in only five innings of work. Jace Harrell led RBI’s with two total, including a double to help bring Richard Parker home. Striking out almost half of the batters he faced, pitcher Ethan Gustus dominated on the mound and recorded five strikeouts with only one run allowed. Hayden Anderson closed out the last inning with one strikeout to help Jason Kidd Select secure the win.

A standout offensive performance by Edmund Peterson fueled GBG Vegas to a shutout victory with ease. Peterson was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBI’s and a walk in five innings of play. Dominic Tiberi threw an impressive complete game with six strikeouts during his scoreless pitching performance.

Clutch performances on the mound split amongst three pitchers for CBA Marucci gave a nail-biting performance down to the very last out. Tate Belfanti worked 4.0 innings with an impressive eight strikeouts, and only two earned runs allowed. Jacob Melendez sparked fire offensively with a home run and three RBI’s, while Bobby Villa added to the momentum with a team high of two hits to help secure a thrilling win for CBA Marucci.

AZBC 2027 EB 17U 8, Wildcatters National 2027 3
In a 1-1 tie after the first inning, AZBC 2027 EB 17U started putting the pieces together offensively to score at least one run in every inning but the second. Chase Heid helped fuel the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Two of his teammates, Jacoby Nobel and Tank Castillo also added a pair of hits. Bradley Carr pitched 5.1 innings and collected three strikeouts along the way. Andrew Hohmann closed out the game in 1.2 innings of work with no runs allowed alongside three strikeouts.

After forcing the game into extras in the bottom of the seventh, Swarm Red Elite Premier 2027’s strong defensive performance in the top of the eighth gave them the edge going into the bottom of the inning. A sacrifice fly by Brennan Prendergast advanced the winning run over to third, while Erick J Jimenez brought Tye Burson across the plate to secure the win. Pitcher Dean Thompson closed out the game in relief allowing no runs and striking out three in 3.0 innings of work.

A strong pitching performance from Crew Nelson, including five strikeouts and only one earned run, gave MBA Navy 2027 17U the defensive confidence late in the game to slow the run of Diablo Valley Oaks Elite 17U. A late rally in the bottom of the sixth began with a double by Boston Walkenhorst, and continued with a triple by Pratt Morely. A single from Ryder Huntsman brought in the leading run, and three more outs by the arm of Nelson closed out the win for MBA Navy.

An early 2-0 lead after the first inning set the tone for CBA Marucci American 17U for the rest of the game, courtesy of a two-run homer by Alexander Molina. Jacob Quintero walked in to score the final run of the game after being walked himself to start the inning. On the defensive side, seven innings of work were split amongst four pitchers to only allow one run scored.
