
CARY, N.C. – The Stripes defeated the Stars, 2-1, in the second game of USA Baseball’s 2026 Collegiate National Team Training Camp Stars vs. Stripes series on Wednesday night at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
The victory evened the Stars vs. Stripes series at one game apiece after the Stars claimed a 4-0 win in the opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Starting pitchers Will Sanford and Aidan King both recorded four strikeouts in the opening three innings, keeping the opposition off the board.
Following the three scoreless innings, the Stars broke the ice in the top of the fourth. Anthony Pack Jr. led off the inning with a triple to center field before Landon Hairston drove him home with an RBI single to right field, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead.
The Stripes answered in the bottom of the fifth. Julio Solier lined a double to center field, and JD Stein followed with an RBI double to right to tie the game at 1-1. Trey Callaway then hit an RBI groundout to bring home the go-ahead run, giving the Stripes a 2-1 advantage.
After giving up the Stars’ lone run, Stripes relief pitcher Ethan Lund threw two shutout innings before Evan Jones closed it out with a scoreless inning of his own to solidify the Stripes 2-1 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Julio Solier led all batters with two hits.
Starting pitchers Sanford and King tied for a game-high four strikeouts in their scoreless outings.
Camden Clark, Wylan Moss, and Lund each tallied three strikeouts apiece.
Pack Jr., Solier, and Stein each recorded one run, tying for the game high.
Callaway, Hairston, and Stein each had one RBI, the most of all batters.
Sanford tossed four strikeouts in three scoreless innings of work.
King, Clark, Sanford, and Jones each turned in scoreless outings.
