Draft League Alumni Report - AFL (16x9)

On Friday, Nov. 14, the Surprise Saguaros defeated the Peoria Javelinas, 9-4, for the Arizona Fall League Championship. In the fall finale, five prospects amongst both teams were alumni of the MLB Draft League, appearing in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

With the offseason now underway, the latest edition of the Alumni Report reflects on each performance of the Draft League’s alumni in the Fall League, highlighting individual games, league leaders, awards, recognitions and more.

Glendale Desert Dogs

RHP D.J. Carpenter (STL, Frederick ‘22):

Carpenter came to the Desert Dogs after finishing the 2025 Minor League season at High-A with the Peoria Chiefs. In Glendale, Carpenter had five outings where he did not allow a hit or run. Each appearance lasting for a complete inning, at most, he struck out two batters on two occasions for his personal fall best.

Fall: 8 G, 6 IP, 8 K, 7 H, 6/7 E/R, 4 BB

LHP Jacob Kroeger (ATL, State College ‘24):

A 10th rounder in 2024 by the Braves, Kroeger made all five appearances out of the bullpen. In four of his five games, the southpaw did not allow a run and three without a hit. Kroeger’s most notable outing came Saturday, Oct. 18, where he struck out five in two no-hit innings.

RHP Chen-Wei Lin (STL, Frederick ‘23):

The Cardinal’s No. 16 ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline had a strong start and finish to the Arizona Fall League. Lin started the fall with two consecutive starts (5 2/3 innings) where he did not allow a run on two hits and nine strikeouts. His last outing of the fall would lead into his selection to the Fall Stars Game (did not appear) where he was named as Pitcher of the Week with a three inning scoreless start, striking out five batters. At the end of the season, the Taiwan native held a share of the AFL lead with his three wins and tied for the eighth most strikeouts at 19.

Fall Stars Game / Week 5 Pitcher of the Week

INF Sam Antonacci (CWS, West Virginia ‘22):

The White Sox No. 11 prospect by MLB Pipeline was one of the league’s most consistent hitters as the overall leader in hits with 28 and top 10 in batting average and on-base percentage that helped result in his league-leading 24 runs. In regular season action, the infielder put together five three-hit games. Antonacci was also a Fall Stars Game selection and while he didn’t record a hit, he played the part of the hero with a walk-off sacrifice fly.

Mesa Solar Sox

RHP Mark Adamiak (ATH, State College ‘22):

Adamiak ended the fall by going a league leading two-for-two on save opportunities with an overall four games finished. On two occasions the Athletics’ farmhand struck out an AFL single-game best two batters on two occasions with four scoreless outings, two without a hit allowed.

RHP Mason Auer (TB, Frederick ‘21):

Continuing his transition from hitter to pitcher, Auer was able to put together four scoreless appearances for a cumulative three innings with two hits surrendered and four strikeouts.

RHP Corey Avant (ATH, State College ‘23):

The former State College righty started the fall with a then league-best seven strikeout performance in a three inning start. Avant would make two more starts and have three games out of the bullpen, striking out six more batters.

Fall: 6/3 G/S 12.1 IP, 13 K, 21 H, 17/18 E/R

LHP Jack Sellinger (MIA, Mahoning Valley ‘23):

Sellinger set himself apart from other pitchers in the Fall League with a curveball that spun at 3155 rpm on average and maxed at 3521. Each of the former Scrapper’s outings witnessed one complete inning with at least one strikeout and got all outs via strikeout once.

C Owen Ayers (CHC, State College ‘22):

The Cubs’ switch-hitting catcher was one of the top performing bats in the Fall League with top 10 finishes in seven categories including a first place finish in walks. Ayers started the AFL as the first Hitter of the Week with three extra base hits in three games, including a home run. The State College alumni would also be named to the Fall Stars Game where he recorded a hard hit single and ultimately be named as the Breakout Player of the Year by MLB Pipeline.

Peoria Javelinas

LHP Sayer Diederich (BAL, West Virginia ‘24):

Signed as an MiLB FA in the middle of June, Diederich proved to be a reliable arm out of the bullpen for the Javelinas. The left-hander never gave up more than one hit with a total of two earned runs surrendered. He also never walked more than one batter and in all three appearances during November Diederich struck out two batters.

Fall: 7 G, SV, 7.2 IP, 10 K, 5 H, 2/3 E/R, 4 BB

3B Charlie Pagliarini (SEA, Trenton ‘23): The Mariners’ 19th round pick (2023) delivered powerful swings as he was considered for the Fall Stars Game via the Final 2 Vote. Slugging three home runs, each carried an exit velocity over 102 mph with his hardest at 110.7 mph that also went the farthest at 450 feet, each travelling over 415 feet.

Fall: 20 G, .281/.413/.500 (.913 OPS), 3 HR, 3 2B, 3B, 9 RBI, 10 R, 6 SB

Salt River Rafters

RHP Joshua Loeschorn (PIT, Trenton ‘21):

Loeschorn reached Double-A this past summer for the first time in his career and joined the Arizona Fall League after pitching just 28 1/3 innings on the year. The Pirates pitching prospect made eight appearances for the Rafters and struck out six over 9 2/3 innings of work.

Fall: 8/1 G/S, SV, 9.2 IP, 6 K, 19 H, 8/10 E/R, 3 BB

RHP Carlson Reed (PIT, Trenton/West Virginia ‘23): Reed, the Pittsburgh Pirates fourth round selection in 2023, was one of the MLB Draft League’s top alumni in the Arizona Fall League. A former Black Bear and Thunder pitcher, the right-hander made two starts and surrendered no runs, two hits and three walks over eight innings between the two. Overall, Reed pitched to a 1.29 ERA across 14 innings which ranked second among qualified pitchers in the league. Preparing for his third full professional season, Reed will look to take the next step in 2026 and reach Double-A for the first time in his career.

OF Stanley Tucker (BOS, Williamsport ‘23):

After missing the entire 2025 minor league season due to injury, Tucker didn’t miss a beat in the Arizona Fall League, slashing .278/.374/.316 over 24 games and earning an invite to the Fall Stars Game. The Red Sox prospect reached base in every game in October for a 16-game hit streak to begin his AFL campaign. Tucker’s 13 stolen bases were tied for the fourth most on the season.

Scottsdale Scorpions

RHP Austin Amaral (WAS, Trenton ‘23):

The Nationals 16th-round pick in 2023 appeared in nine games out of the Scorpions bullpen and was able to strike out nine batters over 10 2/3 innings. The right-hander pitched one inning out of the bullpen in the semifinals and picked up all three outs via the strikeout. The Fall League proved to be a good test for Amaral after dominating across three levels in 2025 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, peaking at Double-A to finish the year.

Fall: 9 G, 10.2 IP, 9 K 10 H, 8/10 E/R, 9 BB

1B Will Bush (HOU, State College ‘23):

Bush entered the Arizona Fall League fresh off a strong 2025 season that saw him reach Double-A while blasting 15 home runs between two levels. The former State College Spike carried his momentum over to Arizona, putting up a .908 OPS, led by his .489 OBP and flashed some strength with a home run and two doubles. The highlight of his fall came Nov. 1 when the first baseman went 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Fall: 12 G, .258/.489/.419 (.908 OPS), HR, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 9 R, 13 BB, SB

OF Joseph Sullivan (HOU, Williamsport ‘23): Sullivan was one of the MLB Draft League’s top performing alumni in this year’s Arizona Fall League, slashing .296/.435/.426 for an .861 OPS across 15 games. The Houston Astros' No. 6 prospect by MLB Pipeline reached base safely in 14 of the 15 AFL games he played. Sullivan slashed .233/.411/.462 (.872 OPS) this year in High-A before receiving his first promotion to Double-A.

RHP Nate Wohlgemuth (HOU, Williamsport ‘23):

Wohlgemuth was signed by the Astros in June out of the Frontier League and quickly earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League after 23 Minor League innings. The right-hander impressed early on with three scoreless appearances to start the fall before slowing down in late October.

Fall: 8 G, SV, 6.1 IP, 6 K, 15 H, 17 R, 13 BB

SS Jeron Williams (HOU, West Virginia ‘21):

Williams found his stride in the second half of the Arizona Fall League, grabbing at least one hit in five of his final seven games, including three extra-base hits. The Astros' ninth round pick in 2023 batted .250 this past year in Double-A, adding 13 extra-base hits and was 17-for-18 on the bases.

Surprise Saguaros (Champions)

RHP Daniel Harper (PHI, State College ‘22):

After reaching Triple-A this year for the first time in his career, Harper finished up his third full professional campaign with the Saguaros. The former State College Spike pitched a scoreless fourth inning in the championship, striking out one and walking one. The University of Kentucky graduate appeared in seven regular season games, striking out six and walking six over 6 2/3 innings.

Fall: 7 G, 6.2 IP, 6 K, 8 H, 5 R, 6 BB

C Ben Hartl (TEX, West Virginia ‘22):

The Rangers catching prospect started the fall strong with a .357 OBP and two extra-base hits through his first four games. Reaching base this fall four times via HBP and twice via the walk, Hartl posted a .521 OBP over 18 games in High-A this past summer.

RHP L.P. Langevin (KC, West Virginia ‘23):

Langevin appeared in six games for the Saguaros and allowed just three hits over 6 2/3 innings for a .130 BAA. The former West Virginia Black Bear battled the zone at times with 12 walks but was able to miss bats, striking out 11 for a 14.9 K/9. In his rookie MiLB season, Langevin struck out 31 over 21 1/3 innings this past summer.
