Draft League Alumni Report - AFL (16x9)

Another week of fall baseball in the desert has passed as the Arizona Fall League nears the midway point of the 2025 season. The Surprise Saguaros lead the pack with an 8-4 record, boasting a trio of former MLB Draft League players.

Roughly three weeks into the season, Sam Antonacci (West Virginia ‘22) and Stanley Tucker (Williamsport ‘23) are tied for fifth in the league with 13 hits apiece. On the mound, Corey Avant (State College ‘23) and Chei-Wei Lin (Frederick ‘23) are tied for seventh in the league with nine strikeouts.

In the Venezuelan winter league, the LVBP, Damiano Palmegiani (State College ‘21) is off to a torrid start with the Cardenales De Lara, entering Wednesday with a slash line of .458/.500/.750 with a 1.250 OPS. The Blue Jays’ prospect finished the 2025 season with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A), appearing in 64 total games across the MiLB season.

Glendale Desert Dogs

RHP D.J. Carpenter (STL, Frederick ‘22): After 1 2/3 perfect innings in the first week, Carpenter made two appearances in the past seven days where he allowed one hit in 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.

Fall: 4 G, 2.2 IP, 4 K, 1 H, 2 ER, 2 BB

LHP Jacob Kroeger (ATL, State College ‘24): Kroeger made his second appearance of the Fall for Glendale on Saturday, Oct. 18, and turned in an impressive outing with two no-hit innings where he struck out five with one runner reaching on a dropped third strike.

RHP Chen-Wei Lin (STL, Frederick ‘23): The Cardinals’ 16th ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline worked deeper in his second start of the fall with better results than the first. The Taiwan native earned his second win of the season after 3 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out five.

Fall: 2 GS, 2-0, 5.2 IP, 9 K, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB

INF Sam Antonacci (CWS, West Virginia ‘22): Since the last update, the White Sox 11th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline reached base in all five games. Appearing in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader, the middle infielder went 2-for-4 in Game 1 with a stolen base and two runs, while going 1-for-1 with three walks, two runs and an RBI that came off his lone hit, his second home run of the Fall.

Fall: 10 G, .317/.429/.512 (.941 OPS), 2 HR, 2 2B, 8 RBI, 11 R, 7 SB

Mesa Solar Sox

RHP Mark Adamiak (ATH, State College ‘22): The Athletics’ prospect appeared in one game this past week for Mesa with a scoreless inning where he struck out two and surrendered one hit. Before that, Adamiak had made two appearances with a save and two strikeouts.

Fall: 3 G, 1 SV, 3 IP, 4 K, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB

RHP Mason Auer (TB, Frederick ‘21): After a turbulent first outing, the converted pitcher was called to action three times this past week and didn’t allow any of the first four batters he faced to reach base. On Thursday, Oct. 16, Auer faced one batter to close out the fourth inning and only needed one pitch to do so. Two days later, he completed his first full inning, retiring all three batters faced with two strikeouts.

Fall: 4 G, 2.1 IP, 4 K, 6 H, 6 ER, 4 BB

RHP Corey Avant (ATH, State College ‘23): Coming off of a seven-strikeout start, Avant didn’t make it out of the first inning in his latest against the Scottsdale Scorpions. Striking out two batters, he allowed three hits and four runs, all coming off a grand slam while walking one and hitting another batter. His next appearance came Wednesday, Oct. 22, out of the bullpen where he worked two innings.

Fall: 3/2 G/S, 5.2 IP, 9 K, 11 H, 7 ER, 4 BB

LHP Jack Sellinger (MIA, Mahoning Valley ‘23): Last appearance on Friday, Oct. 10.

C Owen Ayers (CHC, State College ‘22): Coming off of being the first Arizona Fall League Hitter of the Week, Ayers continued to drive the ball with three hits in his last three games. Flashing defensive prowess as well, the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader saw the Cubs’ catching prospect throw out two of three runners attempting to steal.

Week: 4 G, .250/.471/.333 (.804 OPS), 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R

Fall: 8 G, .333/.471/.667 (1.138 OPS), 2 HR, 3 2B, 8 RBI, 5 R

Peoria Javelinas

LHP Sayer Diederich (BAL, West Virginia ‘24): In the past week, the former West Virginia Black Bear has made one appearance, coming in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. He struck out two over 1 2/3 innings with one hit, a walk and an unearned run.

Week: 1.2 IP, 2 K, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB

Fall: 3 G, 3.2 IP, 3 K, 2 H, 2/1 R/ER, 3 BB

3B Charlie Pagliarini (SEA, Trenton ‘23): Over the past seven days, Pagliarini has put together two three-hit games where he recorded an extra base hit, two RBI and two runs. The first saw him record a double and the second featured a 450-foot home run to right-center that jumped off the bat at 110.7 mph.

Week: 3 G, .500/.538/.833 (1.371 OPS), HR, 2B, 4 RBI, 4 R, 2 SB

Fall: 6 G, .375/.444/.625 (1.069 OPS), HR, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R, 3 SB

Salt River Rafters

RHP Joshua Loeschorn (PIT, Trenton ‘21): Loeschorn made another two appearances for Salt River this week, including his first start of the fall Tuesday where he allowed two runs over two innings while striking out one.

Week: 2/1 G/S, 4 IP, 3 R, 6 H, BB, K

Fall: 4/1 G/S, 6.2 IP, 4 R, 11 H, BB, 2 K

RHP Carlson Reed (PIT, West Virginia ‘21/23): A week after taking the mound in his AFL debut, Reed got the start Wednesday night and twirled a four-inning gem. The Pirates' right-handed pitching prospect surrendered no runs on two hits and one walk, striking out four while earning the victory.

Fall: 2/1 G/S, 6 IP, ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 6 K, 2 GIDP

OF Stanley Tucker (BOS, Williamsport ‘23): It was another strong week at the dish for the Red Sox 19th-round pick in 2023 as he picked up five hits in as many games while reaching base at a clip of .400. Tucker missed the entire 2025 season due to injury and is making the most of his Fall League opportunity.

Scottsdale Scorpions

RHP Austin Amaral (WAS, Trenton ‘23): It was a dominant week out of the bullpen for Amaral, retiring all eight batters he faced over his two appearances. The bulk of his work came on Sunday against the Saguaros when he punched out three over two clean innings.

Week: 2 G, 2.2 IP, 0 R, 3 K, 0 H, 0 BB

Fall: 4 G, 4.1 IP, 4 R, 4 BB, 5 K

OF Joseph Sullivan (HOU, Williamsport ‘23): After a strong first week in the Arizona Fall League, Sullivan’s success continued this past week with five RBI over his three games. The Astros No. 6 prospect collected three hits in 10 at-bats, raising his average to .348 on the fall.

RHP Nate Wohlgemuth (HOU, Williamsport ‘23): Wohlgemuth followed up his scoreless AFL debut with a two-out save in the Scorpions 5-3 win last Thursday. The former Crosscutter appeared in two more games out of the Scorpions bullpen on the week.

Fall: 4 G, SV, 3.1 IP, 5 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 3 K

SS Jeron Williams (HOU, West Virginia ‘21): Williams appeared in three games for Scottsdale this past week and picked up a run and RBI. The Astros' ninth-round pick in 2023 spent the majority of the season in Double-A where he batted .250 and was 17/18 in stolen bases.

Surprise Saguaros

RHP Daniel Harper (PHI, State College ‘22): After making his AFL debut Oct. 9, Harper made two appearances for the Saguaros and struck out one in as many innings.

Fall: 3 G, 2 IP, 2 K, 2 BB, 2 GIDP

C Ben Hartl (TEX, West Virginia ‘22): The former West Virginia Black Bear appeared in three games this week and just missed his first AFL home run on Sunday when he went 333 feet the other way at 95 mph for his second double of the fall. The Rangers catching prospect also scored two runs, had a RBI and reached three times via the walk and HBP.

RHP L.P. Langevin (KC, West Virginia ‘23): Making his first appearance since striking out three in his debut, Langevin pitched one inning for the Saguaros on Sunday and maintained his 0.00 ERA.
