Williamsport (5*) vs Mahoning Valley (5): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters became the first team this summer to win in the sudden death extra inning as the defensive team after answering the Scrappers rally to tie. Mahoning Valley’s Chase Nixon led the way with a 3-for-5 game and the opening RBI with Hayden Moore and Seung-Jun Cha each having two hits and an RBI. After the Scrappers took a 2-1 lead after two, the Crosscutters put up three in the fourth that was answered by Mahoning Valley tying entering the bottom of the ninth. With runners on the corners, Reyth Petersen would ground out to score Vantrel Reed and tie the game to force the sudden death extra inning, closed out by Holland Townes for the win.

Frederick (7) vs State College (3): BOX SCORE - Frederick snapped their three-game skid after getting out to an early lead after scoring five in the first two innings. Called into the game in the second inning for the Spikes, Carter Holjes put together his longest outing of 4.2 innings with six strikeouts and two unearned runs on one hit. Offensively, Cam Hassert was the only Key to have two hits and was one of two to score twice along with Irvin Escobar. For State College, Jaden Collura was the only other player in the game with a multi-hit performance with a 2-for-3 night with an RBI and run.

West Virginia (10) @ Trenton (7): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears won their eighth straight game after tying in the fifth and taking the lead in the sixth. Before West Virginia scored their runs, Trenton’s John Schroeder led the offense prior to the fifth with his two hits of the game. A first-inning double that led to the first run of the game, then a two-run home run (413 ft, 101.6-mph exit velocity), and a sacrifice fly in the fourth. In West Virginia’s comeback from being down 5-0, Jordan Peyton led with three runs and three stolen bases on three hits with Drew Collins behind him in a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI, run and two stolen bases.

Wednesday

Trenton (7) vs West Virginia (3): BOX SCORE - The Thunder snapped the Black Bears’ eight game win streak behind a 13-hit performance and Xavier Lovett’s longest career outing. After striking out nine over five innings in his last start, Lovett worked deeper into the game as he struck out six through seven innings with three earned runs. At the plate, Jackson Tucker collected his second four-hit game and was responsible for four of Trenton’s seven runs (two runs, two RBI). Both of his RBI came off of a triple in the sixth following Andres Vega’s go-ahead single. For West Virginia, DeMarkus Smiley had a hand in two of the Black Bears’ three runs with a run and RBI in the fourth to highlight his 3-for-3 day.

Williamsport (7) vs Mahoning Valley (4): BOX SCORE - After exchanging home runs in the second, the Crosscutters took their fourth consecutive game to start the week 2-0. Carson Hornung and Carlos Castillo each got their first home runs of the summer with Hornung’s being a solo shot (357 ft, 99.4-mph exit velocity) and Castillo’s driving in two (387 ft, 97.7-mph exit velocity). Castillo would end the game 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs to lead the game for Williamsport to support Brad Rudis striking out seven through five innings. Behind Hornung, the Scrappers’ offense was led by Chase Nixon’s three-hit performance with one RBI.

Frederick (8) vs State College (7): BOX SCORE - Entering the ninth down 7-5, the Keys walked it off on a Devan Bade double that cleared the bases to drive in three runs with no outs being recorded. The Spikes got out to their lead off multi-hit performances from Dan Tauken (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, R, 2 BB) and Trotter Boston (2-for-4, 2 R, BB, 2 SB) who were each responsible for two runs. The bottom of the ninth saw only one ball put in play as Trey Lipsey was hit by a pitch and Irvin Escobar and Cam Hassert were both walked in full counts which led to Bade driving the first pitch of the at bat into the left center gap for the walk-off.

Thursday

State College (6) @ Frederick (1): BOX SCORE - The Spikes avoided being swept behind clutch swings from Connor Higgs and a runless start by Michael Quevedo. After the Keys tied the game in the sixth, Higgs drove in two runs in the seventh to make it a 3-1 game. In the ninth, after a sac fly from Dan Tauken, Higgs would slug the farthest home run across both halves in the 2025 MLB Draft League season with a 436-foot blast to right center at 107.5 mph. Quevedo would turn in his third appearance without allowing a run and second start of five innings as he struck out four with no walks, his first start without allowing a free pass. For the Keys, Jake Hunter tied a personal in-game best in strikeouts during his Draft League appearances with seven in five innings. Last done by the East Carolina product in his first start on June 6, done in 4.2 innings.

Williamsport (9) vs Mahoning Valley (2): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters completed the home sweep behind four extra-base hits and a three-out save by Sam Swygert to start the week. After six innings by A.J. Campbell, Swygert struck out three batters with no hits, no walks and no runs with the only baserunner reaching on an error in the seventh. Jackson Mayo collected his first four-hit game of the summer including a double, with four balls in play recording an exit velocity above 95 mph and three above 100. Max Mandler also doubled in his 2-for-4 performance with an RBI and two runs and Safea Villaruz-Mauai tripled in two runs for his one hit on the night. Williamsport’s last extra base hit would be recorded by Marcus Brodil who deposited his first home run of the summer (432 ft, 107.2-mph exit velocity) to drive in the final two runs of the game.

Friday

Frederick (4) vs Williamsport (3): BOX SCORE - The Keys opened up their series against the Crosscutters with their second walk-off of the week by infielder Devan Bade. Frederick would get out to a 3-1 lead in the third with two outs on Jamal Ritter’s three-run homer for his lone hit of the day to right field at 336 feet (91.4-mph exit velocity). Singles by Vantrel Reed and Jackson Mayo in the fifth would tie the game to support Josh Leerssen’s three shutout innings heading into the seventh. With two outs in the ninth, Isaiah Greene roped his seventh double of the summer to center to set up Bade’s walk-off single two pitches later.

Trenton (9) vs Mahoning Valley (4): BOX SCORE - Flashing his plus breaking ball, Connor Hults worked five innings in his start with four strikeouts and surrendering only one run after the Thunder put up eight runs in support. Donovan Cash led the game with four RBIs on a sac fly in the third and a three-double in the fourth. Each RBI for the Thunder third baseman would come after John Schroeder’s RBI singles two at bats prior. Cameron Yuran and Connor Maryinak each provided three hits and an RBI for Trenton with Jackson Van De Brake making his debut with an RBI triple for the Thunder’s seventh run of the game.

West Virginia (5) vs State College (4): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears opened their home series with a walk-off victory behind a nine strikeout start from Solomon Washington and a three-hit day by defending Hitter of the Week, Alex Ungar. Washington worked six innings of one-run ball as he became the sixth pitcher in the league to strike out nine batters and the third in the second half. Ungar’s hot bat was on display with his third homer of the season in the third to drive in two runs. He would also steal two bases with his second being his second run with a straight steal of home in the fifth inning. With the Spikes trailing 4-1, they would tie the game in the seventh behind back-to-back RBI singles by Chenar Brown and Adonis Forte. A hit by pitch to open the ninth was followed by an Ungar single to move the runner to third which would allow Jace Rinehart to drive in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to center.

Saturday

Min-Seong Jeong kept the Thunder to one unearned run through five innings as he struck out three and left the game with a 2-1 lead behind RBIs by Patrick Roche and Ian Francis in the third. The Scrappers would extend their lead in the sixth to 5-1 before Trenton would rally for three runs in the seventh to trail by one. Mahoning Valley would open the eighth with a runner on base for Theo Bryant IV to extend their lead with a two-run home run to left field (345 ft, 97.9-mph exit velocity) for his first of the summer.

West Virginia (9) vs. State College (3): BOX SCORE - The first-place West Virginia Black Bears continued to roll along, securing another series win on the back of a monster game from Judah Morris. Morris blasted a pair of home runs for the second time in four games, while also collecting four hits and four hard-hit balls.
