Williamsport, P.A. – The Frederick Keys used a four-run 1st inning to set the tone, handing the Crosscutters a 9-3 loss on Saturday night.

Drew Clark made his first start of the season, taking the loss. The right-hander allowed eight runs on 10 hits over 2.2 innings. Clark failed to strikeout a batter, walking three.

Frederick plated four runs in the first inning, three more in the second inning and then one more in the third, to take a 8-0 lead against Clark.

Mark Shallenberger plated the Cutters first run in the bottom of the third inning, singling to center, scoring Jacob Harper to make it a 8-1 deficit.

The Cutters added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, as McGwire Holbrook lined a 387-foot home run over the left field wall, his 3rd home run of the season, to make it 8-2.

Shallenberger picked up his second RBI of the night with a run producing ground out, scoring Levi Perrell, to make it 8-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

Cutters relievers did their best to keep the game close, as Logan Berrier worked 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two.

Jacob Hasty struck out four batters over 1.2 innings of relief, allowing one run (unearned).

Parker Kruglewicz gave the Cutters 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out one and Ethan Kiple worked a scoreless frame in the 9th, picking up a strike out.

The Crosscutters wrap up this series tomorrow evening with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m.

Cutters Carvings – Holbrook becomes the second Cutters batter this season to homer in back-to-back games, joining Jackson Mayo (07/06-07/07)… Williamsport committed four errors in the loss, totaling 9 errors through the first three games of the series…It is just the third time this season that Williamsport has lost back-to-back games this season, with all three instances involving the Keys…
