NEW YORK - The MLB Draft League, featuring stars from around the league including the Crosscutters, defeated the Cape Cod Baseball League 10-6 on Monday afternoon at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets.
Members of the MLB Draft League roster selected from the Williamsport Crosscutters were RHP Tyler Dietz, LHP Ryan Ure, INF Taeg Gollert and C Boston Scott.
The first Crosscutters players to step onto Citi Field were Taeg Gollert, who replaced Trenton's Carsten Sabathia III at first base, and Tyler Dietz, who took over on the mount from Sam Cozart of the West Virginia Black Bears, at the start of the fifth inning.
Dietz pitched the entirety of the top of the fifth, allowing just a single baserunner thanks to a hit-by-pitch and struck out two. He was able to get out of the inning on 20 pitches, 10 strikes. Dietz would not factor into the pitching decisions in the game.
Taeg Gollert would play from the fifth inning through the end of the game, going 1 for 3 at the plate with a double, a walk, a strikeout, reached on an error, a stolen base and three runs scored.
Boston Smith would enter next for the Cutters as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the sixth, replacing Frederick's Truitt Madonna, before becoming the MLB Draft League's catcher for the remainder of the game. Smith would go 1 for 3 at the plate with a stolen base, a run scored and a strikeout. He would also record a caught stealing from behind the plate.
Ryan Ure would be the final member of the Crosscutters to grace Citi Field with his presence as he entered the game on the mound in the eighth, taking over for State College's Jacob Mayers. Ure would need just seven pitches, six strikes, to get out of the inning facing the minimum as two Cape Cod players would pop-out and one would reach on a hit-by-pitch but was caught stealing by Boston Scott. Ryan Ure would be credited with a hold.
Gollert, Smith, Ure and Dietz will now return to Williamsport to reunite with the rest of the Crosscutters that enjoyed their league off-day before returning to action tomorrow to open the final homestand of the 2025 MLB Draft League First Half.
