Williamsport, Pa. – Down to their final strike, Jack Kail provided the walk-off, two-run double in the Cutters 8-6 win over West Virginia on Sunday evening.

Josh Willitts got things going for the Crosscutters on the mound, working six shutout innings. The right-hander out of NJIT struck out six while not allowing a walk.

Carson Bayne opened the scoring early for the Crosscutters, drilling a 375-foot home run to left field, his second of the season, to give Williamsport a 1-0 lead in the 1^st

Nicholas Romano added to the lead, driving in Joey DeMucci with a RBI ground out to up the Williamsport lead to 2-0.

Williamsport plated a pair in the 4^th inning, as Jack Kail plated Chris Stanfield with a RBI Fielder’s Choice to make it 3-0. Nick Barone would later cross on a wild pitch, giving the Cutters a 4-0 advantage.

Barone plated two more runs with a single in the Bottom of the 5^th to up the tally to 6-0.

Frankie Sanchez was the first out of the Cutters bullpen and the right-hander struggled, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk.

Preston Drebes took over with the bases loaded in a 6-2 contest, allowing all three inherited runs to score. Drebes did not allow a run of his own in his two-thirds inning of work.

Luc Lavigueur entered in the Top of the 8^th with the Cutters leading 6-4. With two outs in the frame, Lavigueur allowed a two-run, game-tying double to Cayden Gaskin.

In the 9^th, Lavigueur got Alec DeMartinez to ground into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play to set the stage in the Bottom of the 9^th.

James McCoy doubled to left, leading off the inning. Matthew Williams followed by getting hit by a pitch to put runners at 1^st and 2^nd. Ehi Okojie replaced Williams at 1^st base as a pinch runner.

Chris Stanfield, who has the only other walk-off hit for the Cutters, grounded to 3^rd base, moving McCoy and Okojie up 90 feet and putting the winning run at 3^rd with one out.

After an intentional walk to Nick Barone to load the bases, Owen Prince struck out swinging for the 2^nd out of the inning.

Jack Kail, hitless on the afternoon, fell into a two-strike count against Dawson Hall, before ripping a pitch down the right field line. The ball, landing fair by a few feet, hopped over the wall to score McCoy and give the Cutters a 7-6 victory.

The win snaps the Cutters losing streak at four-straight and gives Williamsport their fourth win over West Virginia.

Williamsport looks to take the middle game of the set Monday night. First pitch scheduled for 6:35 P.M. at Journey Bank Ballpark
