Gamelin, Perrell Shine In Win

Williamsport, P.A. – Shortstop Levi Perrell drove in four runs, backing Shaun Gamelin’s strong start, as the Crosscutters defeated the Keys 8-4.

Gamelin, who pitched for the Cutters in 2023, made his return to the Journey Bank Ballpark mound and picked up where he left off, striking out eight batters over six innings.

The right-hander allowed one run, unearned, on three hits and two walks, earning the win.

Levi Perrell helped pad the Cutters lead early, following an RBI infield single from Jacob Harper, with a three-run double to the right-center gap. It gave Williamsport an early 4-0 lead.

Perrell got back in the mix in the bottom of the 4th inning, driving in another run with a single to left-center, giving Williamsport a 5-1 lead. Jacob Corson followed with a RBI fielder’s choice, to make it 6-1. For Corson, it was his 12th RBI of the season.

Mitch McCabe smashed a RBI single through the Keys 3rd basemen in the bottom of the 8th inning, driving in his first run and extending the Cutters lead to 7-1.

Josh Lopez picked up his 13th RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 8th inning, giving Williamsport a 8-1 lead heading to the 9th.

Emmett Bice and Jacob Hasty provided back-to-back scoreless frame of relief in the 7th and 8th innings, striking out three combined.

Frederick rallied late, plating three runs in the top of the 9th against Crosscutters reliever Drew Clark.

Mitch McCabe recorded the final out of the game, throwing out Frederick’s Brody Fahr at 2nd base, as Fahr tried to extend a two-out RBI single into a double.

The Crosscutters will play the second of this four-game series tomorrow evening, first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
