On Sunday, your Trenton Thunder, presented by NJM Insurance Group, were honored to recognize a true American hero: World War II Veteran Orville Lee Hutchins.
Mr. Hutchins fought during WWII in the Philippines on the Island of Luzon. When the war ended, the 27th Regiment was part of the occupying forces in Japan where he was stationed from 1945-46. While there, Mr. Hutchins came upon an orphanage which was being continuously looted by locals. He immediately provided armed security, food, and blankets for the children. This was the beginning of the 27th Regiment's now-continuous support of the Holy Family Orphanage to this day.
