Thunder Starter KC Hunt Named Pitcher of the Week

(Trenton, NJ) - Your Trenton Thunder, presented by NJM Insurance Group, are excited to share that righthanded pitcher KC Hunt (Wyckoff, NJ) has been named Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 6-12. Hunt has not allowed a run in his first two starts for the Thunder, working nine innings of four hit-ball with two walks and 12 strikeouts.

In his home debut at Trenton Thunder Ballpark on June 11 against the Frederick Keys, Hunt set new season-highs for all Thunder pitchers by striking out seven batters over five innings. He starts the week tied for second in the league with nine innings pitched while tying for fifth with 12 strikeouts.  

Hunt is a junior and three-year member of the baseball team at Mississippi State University, where he pitched for the 2021 National Championship team. Before his college career, he was a standout baseball and basketball player at Ramapo High School and was named to several All-America and All-State teams. He comes from a baseball family, and his two older brothers played for Division I programs. His brother Shooter was an All-American, the 2008 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year at Tulane, and was selected in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
