(Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder and the NJM Insurance Group (NJM) are thrilled to announce a $10,000 donation to KinderSmile Foundation as part of the Safe at Home Program. The Safe at Home partnership between the Trenton Thunder and NJM started in 2012 and has now raised $170,500 for local charities.
Through the Safe at Home Program, NJM makes an annual donation to a local non-profit based on the total number of runs the Thunder score at all home games throughout the season. The Thunder scored 200 total runs at home this season, allowing KinderSmile Foundation to receive this contribution.
“Our partnership with the Trenton Thunder and the Safe at Home Program demonstrates our shared commitment to supporting communities,” said Jeff Richardson, NJM’s Community Outreach and Events Coordinator. “Congratulations to this year’s beneficiary, KinderSmile Foundation. We are happy to support its innovative efforts to provide comprehensive dental care to underserved communities.”
“This was another incredibly successful year for the Thunder and our partnership with NJM and the Safe at Home Program” said Thunder President Jeff Hurley. “We are looking forward to furthering the impact within our community and the Garden State in 2026, and we could not be prouder to have such a great teammate and partner in NJM.”
“We hope KinderSmile Foundation, along with every organization we have partnered with during the Safe at Home Program, can use these donations to grow and continue the great work they provide in our State”, said Thunder General Manager Jon Bodnar. “The continued growth and impact of this program drives all of us to find local organizations annually that deserve a spotlight shined brightest on them for their outstanding work, just like KinderSmile Foundation.”
“Words cannot express my gratitude for the continued support from NJM Insurance Group since the opening of the Trenton Dental Home. It is an honor to promote health equity and expand access to oral health care in the community, and support from our partners is crucial. Thank you to NJM and Trenton Thunder on behalf of the children and families in Trenton,” says Dr. Nicole McGrath-Barnes, Founder and CEO of KinderSmile Foundation.
Other nonprofits that have been part of the Safe at Home Program include: The Father Center of New Jersey, HomeWorks Trenton, The Miracle League of Mercer County, Children’s Home Society of NJ, Rescue Mission of Trenton, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK), Anchor House Foundation, PEI Kids, Younity (previously Womanspace), Boys & Girls Clubs (Mercer County), Family Service Association of Bucks County, and the Bucks County Opportunity Council.
