State College Spikes outfielder Nyan Hayes made history with home runs in each of his first three games with the club, and his efforts earned him the MLB Draft League Player of the Week award for the week of July 6-12, 2026.
Hayes opened up the second half of the MLB Draft League season by etching his name into the Spikes record book as the first player to homer in each of their first three games, and the third player to complete the hat trick at any time alongside his current hitting coach, Marques Paige, and major leaguer Mark Hamilton with his home run string. Paige accomplished the feat from August 10-12, 2022, while Hamilton did so for the Spikes’ inaugural team from June 27-29, 2006.
Along with his three home runs, Hayes hit .318 and reached base at a .375 clip for the opening week of the second half. The New Orleans native, who recently completed his collegiate baseball career at Oregon State, also produced one double, one triple, two stolen bases and six runs batted in.
Hayes and the Spikes are back in action this week at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for a three-game series from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16 against the Williamsport Crosscutters.
