
Five additional State College Spikes alums were selected in the final 16 rounds of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday, bringing the total to six Spikes players hearing their names called to get one step closer to their big league dreams on the Road to the Show presented by HRI, INC.
2026 Spikes right-handed pitchers Chase Meyer, Conner Griffin, Jack Turner and Carson Lane joined 2025 Spikes outfielder Lorenzo Carrier on the draft rolls in Sunday's activity, with 2026 Spikes infielder Dominic Pellegrin already having been selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round on Saturday.
Meyer started the roll call of Spikes on Sunday after being taken by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round. The Daytona Beach, Fla. native made three starts for the Spikes in 2026, starting with a seven-strikeout performance against the West Virginia Black Bears on June 6. Meyer retired all six batters he faced, three via strikeout, in his final outing with State College on June 20 in Trenton.
Griffin was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 10th round. The Binghamton product made a two-inning outing for the Spikes on June 24 of this season in Williamsport, allowing two runs on two hits and two hit batsmen while striking out three batters.
Turner started the Spikes' 2026 opener on the road in Mahoning Valley on June 2, with his four-inning outing serving as the longest for any State College pitcher in the first half of the MLB Draft League season. The New Mexico State product made two appearances for the Spikes before being transferred to the Trenton Thunder, then got chosen by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round on Sunday.
Carrier was the next Spike off the board, getting selected by the Colorado Rockies to start the 14th round. The University of Pittsburgh product made two appearances for the Spikes in 2025, going 1-for-5 at the plate in a shortened stint with State College.
Lane rounded out the spate of Spikes draft picks as he was chosen by the Cleveland Guardians in the 14th round. The UNLV product impressed in three outings for the Spikes, pitching eight scoreless innings and posting eight strikeouts to just two walks. Lane saved his best for last, pitching four no-hit innings against Mahoning Valley on June 28 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in what proved to be his last Spikes appearance.
Pellegrin led the MLB Draft League in on-base percentage with a stellar .569 mark in the first half of the season. The New Orleans native hit .375 with four doubles, one triple and 10 RBI's over 12 games while adding 11 stolen bases in 13 attempts.
The Spikes have had 42 players drafted since joining the MLB Draft League in 2021, and 75 players have made it to the major leagues after starting their careers with the Spikes on the Road to the Show presented by HRI, Inc.
