BOX SCORE/GAME SUMMARY

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two-time National Champion wrestler Mitchell Mesenbrink gave State College Spikes fans a thrill on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park with a special appearance presented by Lion Country Kia as the Spikes dropped a 15-2 decision to the Aberdeen IronBirds.

Mesenbrink signed autographs and took pictures with fans throughout the night and also threw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch.

Plus, fans brought their dogs to the third and final Bark in the Park of the season presented by Timberland Federal Credit Union and Plum Pristine Clean.

In game action, Camden Ross got closer to Rowan Wick’s Spikes (15-11 2nd Half) record 26-game on-base streak with a wall-ball triple in the first inning to extend his own mark to 22 games. However, the Spikes fell out of first place in the MLB Draft League second-half standings for the first time since July 25 with the loss as the IronBirds (16-11 2nd Half) became the loop’s new pacesetter.

Luis De La Cruz knocked in four runs to lead the way for Aberdeen, with a pair of two-run singles. Max Galvin also homered for the second straight night with a two-run shot to right field in the fourth, his fifth long ball of the season.

Spikes starter Pablo Torres (0-1) took the loss after being charged with six runs on three hits, three walks and a hit batsman over 1 1/3 innings. Torres recorded one strikeout in the effort.

Aberdeen starter Josh Milleville (1-2) went five innings for the win. Milleville allowed one run on three hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out six batters.
