Trenton, N.J. - Despite playing into the top of the fourth inning, mother nature stole the show and brought an early end to the night between the Williamsport Crosscutters and the Trenton Thunder on Saturday night at Trenton Thunder Ballpark.

Before the rain arrived, Williamsport took control early as Kyle Schupmann led-off the game with his first double of the season, stole third base, and scored thanks to a Ben Tryon Sac Fly to give the Cutters an early 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second inning, the Crosscutters put their speed on the bases to work in the third. Kyle Schupmann, for the second time in the game, would reach on a lead-off hit, this time a single and would steal second.

Following an Addison Smith walk, Schupmann would steal third as well and Smith would follow suit a pitch later as he stole second. This set the table for Ben Tryon to pick up an RBI, pushing across Schupmann on a groundout.

With Smith standing at third, Chris Stanfield would work a walk and the Cutters executed a double-steal to push Smith across and extend their lead to 3-0.

Not content with that lead, Brodey Acres would single as well into center, allowing Stanfield to score from second to make it 4-0 in the middle of the third.

Trenton would get their first run of the ballgame in the top of the fourth as Williamsport decided to allow the run while turning a double-play.

Chance Jennings would be the only batter to see the plate in the top of the fourth inning before the rain moved in and forced the decision to cancel the game.

Righty Chris Guillory got the start on the bump for the Crosscutters and worked the first 2.2 innings, allowing just one run on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts before being lifted.
