
Williamsport, Pa. – Chris Stanfield recorded the first five-hit performance of the 2026 Draft League season, leading the Cutters to a 10-2 win over Aberdeen.
Stanfield set the tone in the bottom of the first inning, reaching on an infield single, taking 2nd on a walk and then stealing 3rd as a part of a double steal with Maddix Dalena. Brodey Acres plated both with a single to center, giving the Cutters a 2-0 lead. For Acres, it was his 15th and 16th RBI of the season.
Kelly Robertson added to the Williamsport lead with a two-out single, scoring Amari Allen to give the Cutters a 3-0 lead on Robertson’s first RBI of the season.
Aberdeen got on the board in the top of the 4th inning, using a 371-foot lead off home run from Anthony Quigley, his first of the season.
The run was the only allowed by Crosscutters starting pitcher, Evan Grimes, who made his debut with Williamsport. Grimes struck out seven batters, allowing two hits over four innings.
Stanfield got the offense rolling, leading off the bottom of the 4th with a triple to deep center, for his third hit of the night. Dalena followed with a sacrifice fly to deep left, giving the Cutters a 4-1 lead.
Jaden Noot entered in the top of the 5th, facing three batters in a scoreless frame. Noot hit Leamsi Montanez, but George Malone would throw out Montanez trying to steal 2nd to end the frame.
Williamsport carried the momentum into the bottom of the 5th, seeing the first three batters reach, including a two-run double by Robertson. Robertson’s first extra base hit of the season scored Amari Allen and Chance Jennings to make it 7-1.
Chris Stanfield kept the inning going with a single to center for his fourth hit. After s steal of 2nd and a Dalena walk, the Cutters duo attempted another successful double steal. On the play, Aberdeen catcher, Leamsi Montanez, threw the ball into center, allowing Standfield to score to advance the lead to 8-1.
Ben Tyron capped the frame with a two-out RBI single to center, scoring Dalena to make it 9-1. For Tryon, it was his league-leading 23rd RBI of the season.
Noot delivered three scoreless innings of relief, using two outs on the bases to face the minimum. The outing was the best from Noot this season, earning his first win of the year.
Stanfield led off the 7th with a single to left, giving him his fifth hit of the night, but he would be the only Cutters to reach in the frame.
Max McEwen worked a scoreless 8th inning for the Crosscutters, walking one and striking out one.
Kelly Robertson capped his night with a two-out RBI infield single in the bottom of the 8th, scoring Allen to up the Williamsport lead to 10-1. It was the third hit and fourth RBI for Roberston, both season-highs.
Will Howell entered in the 9th inning, allowing a lead off home run to Colin Priest. The 422-foot blast was the second of the season for the Ironbirds first basemen.
Howell bounced back to close out the inning and the game for the Cutters, striking out two of the next four batters he faced.
Cutters Carvings - The Cutters have now won 11-straight home games… Williamsport has scored 10+ runs in five of their last six games and each of their last four games against Aberdeen… Chris Stanfield becomes the second-ever Crosscutters batter to collect five hits in one game (Matthew Etzel, 5 hits vs Mahoning Valley on June 17, 2022)… Stanfield became the first Cutter to steal four bases since Daunte Stuart did so on June 21st against Frederick…
