Sikorski Sets Pace In Win

Williamsport, PA - Easton Sikorski’s four shut out innings, backed by the Cutters 11-hit assault leads to a 8-5 win over the Black Bears, and giving Williamsport the series victory.

Starter Easton Sikorski made his 4th start of the season and blanked the Black Bears over four innings, the longest outing by a Cutters pitcher this season. Sikorski struck out four and worked around three hits.

C Hogan McIntosh opened up the scoring, launching a 434-foot solo home run to left, his first home run of the season to give the Cutters a 1-0 lead.

SS Alan Shibley and 1B Tayden Hall each recorded RBI in the bottom of the 3rd, with Shibley doubling home CF Michael Gupton and Hall singling home Shibley to extend the Cutters lead to 3-0.

West Virginia was able to plate two in the top of the 5th and two more in the top of the 6th inning, taking their first lead of the night at 4-3.

Williamsport would respond in the bottom of the 6th, as 2B Josue Urdaneta plated Gupton with a RBI fielders choice and then Hall picked up his 2nd RBI of the night, chasing home Shibley with an infield single to give the Cutters a 5-4 lead.

Shibley helped put the game away in the bottom of the 7th inning, ripping a two-run single to center to score RF Logan Flood and Gupton, giving the Cutters an 8-5 edge.

Nick Palumbo closed the door with a scoreless 9th inning, earning his 1st save of the season and only the 4th save of the season for the Crosscutters.

The Crosscutters welcome in the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tomorrow night, starting a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
