
Williamsport, Pa. – Reliever Jackson Nash delivered four shutout innings as the Crosscutters completed their 5-3 come-from-behind victory over team Mexico.
In his third appearance of the season, Jackson Nash took the ball to start the 4th inning with the Crosscutters trailing 3-2. The Longwood University product opened his outing by retiring the first nine batters he faced, punching out five.
Team Mexico got their first base runner against Nash via a lead off walk in the top of the 7th inning, only to see Nash retire the next three in order.
Nash earned his first win of the season, retiring 12 of the 13 batters he faced, finishing with five strikeouts over four near perfect innings.
The Williamsport offense responded in a steady manner, plating one run in five separate innings to battle back.
Ben Tryon scored the Crosscutters opening run, crossing on a throwing error in the 2nd inning to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Chris Stanfield added the Cutters 2nd run in the 3rd inning with a sacrifice fly, scoring Slaide Burd to bring Williamsport within one.
Tryon got back in the mix, plating Stanfield with a sacrifice fly in the 5th inning, tying the game at 3-3.
Williamsport was able to take the lead in the 6th inning as Kyle Schupmann dropped a two-out single into left-center, chasing home Slaide Burd to make it 4-3.
Brodey Acres capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the 7th, scoring Stanfield, to give the Cutters a little insurance.
Dallis Moran made sure that insurance wasn’t needed. The right-hander allowed the first two batters he faced in the 8th inning to reach, but settled in, retiring the final six batters he faced to earn his first save of the season.
Williamsport continues their Mexican Heritage weekend tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
