GAME RECAP FOR WEBSITE (5)

Aberdeen, Md. - They say that all good things must come to an end and that is exactly what happened on Saturday night in Aberdeen as the Williamsport Crosscutters fell to the IronBirds 13-10 to snap the Cutters eight game win streak.

Trailing the IronBirds 2-0, Williamsport would respond in the 2nd inning as Ben Tryon tripled to lead-off the frame and would score three batters later on a single to center from Nick Barone to close the gap to 2-1.

Aberdeen punched back with a run in the bottom of the frame and another in the fourth, extending their lead to 4-1.

Williamsport would close the gap again in the sixth. Slaide Burd worked a lead-off walk, followed by Addison Smith and Brodey Acres one-out walks to load the bases for an RBI walk with two outs for Nate McHugh to score Burd and an Owen Price infield single scored Smith to pull Williamsport within one at 4-3 in the middle of the sixth.

Aberdeen would score another five runs over the next two innings, climbing out to a 9-3 lead.

Williamsport offense went back to work in the top of the eighth, pushing across two runs on a double from Nate McHugh, scoring Brodey Acres and Ben Tryon to make it 9-5 still in favor of Aberdeen.

The IronBirds would get four insurance runs in the eighth, runs that turned out to be needed by Aberdeen.

Williamsport opened the ninth with four straight walks by KJ White, Slaide Burd, Kyle Schuppman and Addison Smith, scoring twice in that span thanks to a passed ball that plated White and a wild pitch that plated Burd.

Brodey Acres would keep the Cutters rally going as he scored Schupmann with an RBI single. Ben Tryon would drive a sac fly to the center field wall, deep enough to score both Smith and Acres.

Williamsport was able to get the tying run to the plate, represented by pinch-hitter Maddix Dalena, but a lineout ended the threat and snapped the winning streak with a 13-10 loss.

Luke Meyers got the start and suffered the loss for Williamsport, allowing three runs on six hits over three innings of work.

Jaden Noot allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits in 2.2 innings of relief.

Will Howell worked 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on one hit.

Max McEwen allowed four runs on five hits as he worked the final inning.

Williamsport and Aberdeen will conclude this three-game series with a rubber match on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Ripken Stadium.
