Cutters Downed in Series Finale

Williamsport, P.A. – Williamsport suffered their first misstep of the season, falling 12-0 in the series finale against Mahoning Valley.

Nick McCollum made his Cutters debut, working a scoreless first inning, but the Scrappers would get to McCollum, scoring in each of the next four frames against the Georgia Southwestern State product.

McCollum finished the night allowing six runs on 13 hits in five innings of work. He struck out four and did not allow a walk in the loss.

The Crosscutters bullpen struggled for the first time this season as a whole, allowing six runs on four hits and four walks in four innings of work. Entering play the Cutters bullpen had not allowed a run over their first eight innings, striking out 12 in that span.

Gray Thomas displayed a mid-90’s fastball and a upper-80’s slider in his inning and two-thirds of relief. The Oklahoma product did not allow a run or a hit, striking out three.

Michael Ciminiello struggled in his debut, allowing four runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter in just a third of an inning. Cimimiello did record a pair of strikeouts, however his 2nd punchout reached on strike three in the dirt. He was charged with three wild pitches.

Daniel Barcena allowed a lead off single and a two -run home run in his inning of relief, but bounced back to retire the last three of the inning.

Dalton Robinson faced the minimum in a scoreless 9th inning of relief.

The Crosscutters head to New Jersey to start a three-game weekend series with the Trenton Thunder.
