Spikes OF Wiggins to perform Anthem on sax before tonight's game

The State College Spikes' annual Independence Eve matchup will feature a special touch for the National Anthem performance prior to the game as Spikes outfielder Andrew Wiggins will perform it on saxophone prior to Friday's 6:35 p.m. first pitch.

Wiggins, who performed the Anthem on saxophone prior to an NC State home game this year while playing for the Wolfpack, has already played his sax at several baseball stadiums in his career. The 21-year-old native of Indianapolis has put up a .370 on-base percentage, knocked in nine runs, and made several highlight-reel plays in 17 games for the Spikes this season.

The special performance adds to an already dazzling array of events for the Spikes' July 3 matchup against the Williamsport Crosscutters kicking off the America250 celebration in Happy Valley. The skies will light up after the game with the Spikes’ traditional Independence Eve FIREWORKS show, presented by the PA Lottery.

Plus, the first 500 fans when ballpark, gates open to the public at 5:30 p.m., with early entry for Spikes Season Ticket holders and groups, will receive a Spikes Patriotic Hat Giveaway presented by Lion Country Kia on Military Appreciation Night, with Kids Run the Bases after the game presented by Mount Nittany Health on a 4-Pack Friday presented by 93.7 3WZ.

Tickets for Friday's game, along with every remaining home game on the 20th Anniversary Season schedule, are available by calling 814-271-1711 or by visiting the Spikes Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with hours during home game days of 10 a.m. to the end of the game Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to the end of the game on Saturday and Sunday.
