The MLB Draft League announced on Monday that Ryan Rivera of the State College Spikes was named the league's Hitter of the Week for July 1-6, 2025.
Rivera has raised his batting average over 140 points over the last two weeks, and now holds a .351 mark that is good for third in the MLB Draft League. The LIU product collected 11 hits, nine RBI's, seven runs and three extra-base hits during the Spikes' six-game winning streak last week. Rivera has also strung together a 12-game hitting streak, tied for best in the MLB Draft League this season.
The San Diego native is the second Spike to earn mention on the MLB Draft League's honor roll in 2025 after Roman Kimball captured Pitcher of the Week honors for June 16-22, 2025. Rivera is the first Spike to be named MLB Draft League Hitter of the Week since Brock Wills achieved those honors for the week of July 8-14, 2024.
Rivera has also helped lead the Spikes to a tie for first place in the MLB Draft League standings with four games remaining on the first-half schedule.
Fans can catch Rivera and the Spikes in action this week with a Glizzy and Wine Wednesday presented by Seven Mountains Wine Cellars and WOWY Radio, followed by a Thirsty Thursday presented by The BUS, in a pair of 6:35 p.m. matchups against the Frederick Keys. The Spikes will then host the Williamsport Crosscutters for a pair of 6:35 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday to round out the first-half schedule.
Highlights of the week include appearances from the Pirate Parrot, the Pittsburgh Pierogies and the Bucco Brigade at BuccoMania on Friday, July 11, and FIREWORKS on Cancer Survivors Night presented by Penn Highlands Healthcare along with a Spikes Team Poster Giveaway presented by Fullington Bus Company for the first 500 fans and a Team Autograph Session during the first-half finale on Saturday, July 12.
