West Virginia (4) vs State College (3): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears won their fifth straight after a two-out walk-off by Drew Collins in the bottom of the ninth. Both starting pitchers, Michael Quevedo (State College) and Solomon Washington (West Virginia), struck out six batters and allowed two runs before turning the game over to the bullpen. Quevedo’s six placed him at No. 1 in strikeouts for the second half with 34 and Washington were tied for fifth at 27. Collins would end the night 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run and a stolen base, with his double being the game-winning hit as he drove in Jordan Peyton from first on a perfectly placed hit down the left field line.

Mahoning Valley (7) @ Frederick (2): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers’ offense took control early with two three-run innings that were led by Carson Hornung. Mahoning Valley’s infielder ended the day 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs and three RBI that came off of a home run to center field (399 feet, 102.6-mph exit velocity) in the third inning. Each squad’s bullpen would come through to limit damage as the duo of Trey Cruz and Logan Jones from Mahoning Valley struck out eight in four shutout innings with one hit allowed each. Frederick’s trio of Davis Smith, Valek Cisneros and Ian Cooke would strike out nine in five innings with one earned run and each pitcher giving up a hit.

Trenton (7) vs Williamsport (3): BOX SCORE - After a 122-pitch, eight-inning performance last week, Thunder starter MT Morrissey led the night with eight strikeouts in six innings, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Connor Maryniak led the game offensively with his first four-hit performance of the summer, extending his hit streak to 11 games, with two RBI and two runs. Alongside the Thunder shortstop, John Schroeder put together a multi-hit game with three hits, an RBI and a run.

Wednesday

West Virginia (8) vs State College (0): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears continued their quest to a championship berth after extending their lead in the standings to 5.5 games. Judah Morris reached base safely in all five plate appearances with one hit and four walks with two runs followed by a 2-for-4 day by Jace Rinehart who doubled twice and drove in two, including Morris once, while scoring two runs. West Virginia also got the most out of their bullpen with multi-inning outings by Cameron LeJeune (3 IP, 2 K), Michael Foltz Jr. (3 IP, 3 K) and Joe Steeber (2 IP, 2 K).

Frederick (4) vs Mahoning Valley (3): BOX SCORE - The Keys bounced back from their loss Tuesday with a walk-off victory in a game that featured rather quiet offensive production after the first inning. The Scrappers scored all three of their runs on a wild pitch and a two-run homer by Dreylin Holmes (386 ft, 98.7-mph exit velocity) to tie for the second half lead in round trippers. Frederick would then score two in the bottom half to trail by one and then tie the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the ninth, the Keys would rally with two outs to load the bases and walk it off on a fielding error off the bat of Irvin Escobar.

Thursday

West Virginia (3*) vs State College (3) Sudden Death Extra Inning: BOX SCORE - The Black Bears made it a week straight without a loss as they prevailed in regulation to force the sudden death extra inning and walk it off. Jace Rinehart led the way for West Virginia with the first five-hit game of the second half, knocking in two while stealing a base. At that point in the week, the Black Bear was 8-for-12 with three doubles and four RBI. For the Spikes, Andrew D’Alessio went five shutout innings with five strikeouts, supported by three runs in the third that were highlighted by Cole Caruso’s two-run homer and a 3-for-3 day by T.J. Salvaggio. The Black Bears were able to tie in the ninth on a passed ball to force the sudden death extra inning and win on a pickoff error.

Frederick (2*) vs Mahoning Valley (2) Sudden Death Extra Inning: BOX SCORE - The Keys and Irvin Escobar walked it off for the second consecutive game, this time in the sudden death extra inning. Tyler Johnson and Clayton Boroski combined for 12 strikeouts with the Scrappers with Johnon going 5 1/3 innings and Boroski going two. Johnson surrendered the Keys’ two runs with one being Bronson Rivera’s solo home run in the fifth at 351 feet (98.5-mph exit velocity). Carson Hornung tallied the first homer of the game with a solo shot to dead center at 417 feet (104.4-mph exit velocity) for his third of the summer. Mahoning Valley would tie the game in the ninth on a Patrick Roche single up the middle, leading the extra half-inning where a pinch-hitting Escobar drove in a pinch-running Cam Pittman to walk it off for Frederick.

Trenton (9) vs Williamsport (2): BOX SCORE - The Thunder put together 14 hits to complete the two-game sweep at home. Trenton’s offense was led by the middle infield duo of Connor Maryniak and Jackson Van De Brake, who each collected two hits. Maryniak tripled and had an RBI, run and two walks, while Van De Brake homered, scored two runs and stole a base. Connor Hults put together his longest outing of the summer with six innings of one-run ball and three strikeouts while flashing his 3000+ rpm breaking ball and lowering his ERA from 2.30 to 2.08. The Crosscutters saw life in their offense from Jackson Mayo with three hits, an RBI and a run for his seventh 3+ hit performance.

Friday

Williamsport (14) @ Frederick (0): BOX SCORE - The Crosscutters handled business on the road to open the three-game set with three three-hit performances and four no-hit innings by the bullpen. At the plate, Jackson Mayo (2 R, 2 SB, BB), Vanetrel Reed (2 RBI, 2 R) and TJ Racherbaumer (3 R, BB) were responsible for the three-hit games to support the starting effort of Logan Shafer, who went five innings with five strikeouts. Isaac Fix, David White and Davis Blair followed in relief and struck out five batters combined.

West Virginia (8) vs Trenton (1): BOX SCORE - Jason Bollman and the Black Bears flirted with MLB Draft League history as he was only one out away from the first perfect game in the league’s five years. The right-hander would go on to finish the inning for his second complete game of the season with nine strikeouts while allowing one run on two hits without walking a batter. On offense, Jace Rinehart continued to see the ball well with a 3-for-3 game with an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. David Coppedge hit a two-run homer (364 ft, 106.6 mph exit velocity) in the second to back the Black Bears.

Mahoning Valley (5) vs State College (4): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers opened the home series by thwarting off a ninth inning rally on the back of six extra-base hits. The loudest swing came from Tommy Rover with his second home run of the summer for a solo shot in the fourth inning (369 ft, 98.5-mph exit velocity) after a Carson Hornung double and Dreylin Holmes triple in the first gave the Scrappers an early lead. Rover also hit a double with Chase Nixon and Patrick Roche having two-baggers as well. With a 5-2 lead in the ninth, State College would attempt to rally on an RBI double by Conor Higgs and sacrifice fly from Dan Tauken before Trey Cruz recorded the last out via strikeout for his first save.

Saturday

Frederick (12) vs Williamsport (4): BOX SCORE - Frederick bounced back from being shut out the game before with a two extra-base, four-RBI game from Jamal Ritter. The Keys’ outfielder went 3-for-5 with a home run in the second (361 ft, 99.2-mph exit velocity), a two-run double in the seventh and an RBI single in the eighth. Ethan Ott put together a two-RBI game as well for Frederick with two hits, one being a two-run double in the seventh before scoring later on Ritter’s double. Marcus Brodil led the Crosscutters with a 2-for-4 performance with three RBI, including a double in the third.

West Virginia (9) vs Trenton (8): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears won their ninth straight game, tying a franchise-record for consecutive wins. Alex Rodgers reached base safely in all four plate appearances with two hits, including a triple, and two hit by pitches. Rodgers finished with two RBI, two runs and three stolen bases. For Trenton, Donovan Cash had a game-high four hits in five at-bats, knocking in three runs and scoring two himself. Cash's ninth-inning triple aided the Thunder's late push in the final frame before West Virginia closed out the win by one run.

Mahoning Valley (6) vs State College (5): BOX SCORE - The Scrappers took Game 2 of the series in walk-off fashion as they found answers each time the Spikes scored. Trotter Boston led the way with two hits and two runs scored for the Spikes. Jaden Collura helped State College recapture the lead in the eighth on a ground-rule double to tie the game before scoring the go-ahead run on a balk after the Scrappers took a 4-3 lead in the fifth. Mahoning Valley would then tie in the bottom of the inning on a force out and throwing error. The Scrappers would ultimately walk it off on a wild pitch with Carson Hornung coming across as the winning run.

Sunday

State College (7) @ Mahoning Valley (1): BOX SCORE - The Spikes snapped their eight-game losing streak behind a Trotter Boston home run and a five-run ninth for added insurance runs. Patrick Roche ended the scoreless game in the sixth with his first home run of the summer for the Scrappers lone run of the game (370 ft, 100.8-mph exit velocity) that was then followed in the next half inning by Boston’s go-ahead two-run shot that measured 422 feet (101.2-mph exit velocity). State College would then add five runs in the ninth on three consecutive hits from Cole Caruso, Dan Tauken and T.J. Salvaggio, scoring the final run on a wild pitch.

Frederick (6) vs. Williamsport (6) Called After 7 Innings: BOX SCORE - After each team took home an 8+ run victory the previous two nights, the Keys and Crosscutters ended in a deadlock due to inclement weather after seven innings. Frederick flexed their muscle to close out the homestand with three home runs from Isaiah Greene (396 ft, 101.8-mph exit velocity), Ethan Ott (394 ft, 102-mph exit velocity) and Cam Hassert (403 ft, 102.1-mph exit velocity) each blasting a home run. Greene’s two-run shot put the Keys ahead early, but a Max Mandler single and RBI groundout evened it up in the next half. Three runs for the Keys in the third and four for the Cutters in the sixth set up Cam Hassert to hit a game-tying home run in what would ultimately be the final inning of the game. On the mound, Joshua Lanham led the way for Frederick, allowing just two runs and striking out 10 over five innings.

West Virginia (5) vs. Trenton (3): BOX SCORE - The Black Bears won their 10th consecutive game for their longest win streak in franchise history dating back to their pre-Draft League era behind two home runs and capitalizing on errors. Solomon Washington moved into 10th on the strikeout leaderboards in the second half with 31 after a four-strikeout performance through five innings where he surrendered one run on two hits. Will Rodgers put up the first run of the game for West Virginia with a solo shot in the second, a blast that is longest home run of the 2025 season at 449 feet (107.8-mph exit velocity). Drew Collins put up the other Black Bear homer in the fifth to make it a 3-1 game with his own solo round-tripper (416 ft, 102.7-mph exit velocity) for his second of the summer. The Thunder would tie in the seventh with a two-run double by Evin Sullivan before West Virginia scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom half on a fielder's choice and error.
