State College Spikes outfielder Conor Higgs was named the Hitter of the Week for the week of August 25-31 by the MLB Draft League during Monday's game at Williamsport.
Higgs went 7-for-17 (.415) with four extra base hits, including his third home run of the season, five runs batted in, four walks and a stolen base over a six-game span last week. The Louisiana product has sent all three of his home runs flying in excess of 400 feet for the Spikes this season, providing power in the heart of the order as the MLB Draft League First Half Champions prepare to host the MLB Draft League Championship Game on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. against the league's Second Half Champions, the West Virginia Black Bears.
The Spikes have now seen four players earn MLB Draft League weekly honors this season as Higgs joins Roman Kimball (Pitcher of the Week, June 17-22), Ryan Rivera (Hitter of the Week, June 30-July 6) and Jaden Collura (Hitter of the Week, August 18-24) on the honor roll for the 2025 season. Higgs and Collura gave the Spikes back-to-back weekly awards for the first time since Mason Olson and Josh Mollerus were named Pitchers of the Week consecutively in 2022.
