BOX SCORE/GAME SUMMARY

NEW YORK - Harrison Didawick homered in the fourth inning to put the MLB Draft League squad on the board, and was one of five State College Spikes players to help propel the league's reps to a 10-6 win over a Cape Cod League squad in an exhibition game on Monday at Citi Field.

In the first-ever meeting between standout players from the two leagues, Didawick, the University of Virginia product who was ranked among MLB.com's Top 250 players entering the 2024 MLB Draft, made a strong case in advance of the 2025 Draft. The Chesapeake, Va. native blasted his two-run shot 391 feet to right-center field off Adam Arther of the Harwich Mariners after being named the game's starting left fielder for the MLB Draft League team.

Soon-to-be Spike Jacob Mayers, who most recently won a national championship with LSU at the College World Series, picked up the win in the contest. Mayers faced the minimum in the seventh, allowing a leadoff walk but then eliciting a flyout and an inning-ending double play. The Gonzalez, La. native is set to officially join the Spikes when he heads to Happy Valley on Tuesday.

18-year-old Quinn Bentley, an N.C. State commit, took over at third base in the sixth inning and drew one walk in three plate appearances.

Two other Spikes pitchers also made their mark. Treyson Peters closed out the game for the MLB Draft League side in the ninth, allowing two runs, while Landon O'Donnell tossed a one-run sixth.

Spikes manager Tim Battle Jr., pitching coach Jared Brown, hitting coach Lastings Milledge, athletic trainer Bayley Hess, and data coordinator Dallas Vaughan all served on the staff for the MLB Draft League squad in the exhibition.

All of the participants will now rejoin their MLB Draft League clubs as action in the league resumes on Tuesday, with the Spikes home against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at 6:35 p.m. for a Walking Taco Tuesday presented by Bigfoot Country Legends, featuring half-price Walking Tacos throughout the game and half-price Miller Lite and Coors Light drafts from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
