JOB TITLE: SEASONAL GROUNDS CREW

The State College Spikes are seeking Seasonal Grounds Crew members for the 2025 seasons of Penn State Baseball and the Spikes. The ideal candidate possesses a good work ethic, knowledge of the game of baseball, and the desire to learn the finer points of turfgrass management. The ability to commit to all home game dates is a plus.
Typical game day shifts begin 2 hours before game time. Gameday Grounds Crew members prepare the field for the game, maintain the shop and keep equipment and maintenance shop in an organized and working order, then maintain the field at various points throughout the game. Grounds Crew members can also be called upon to manage weather situations, including the use of the infield tarp. Following the game, Grounds Crew members will be asked to repair and improve all aspects of the playing surface and prepare the field for the following day and next home game, which is determined by the weather on time of completion and could take 45 minutes to one hour to complete. There may be days that field maintenance will be needed outside of game days if available.
This position requires employees to have good vision and awareness of their surroundings, ability to pay attention to detail and follow directions, frequently use their hands, speak and communicate in loud situations, hear, stand for long periods of time and complete manual labor tasks in extreme hot or cold weather and other inclement conditions. Grounds Crew members should be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and team lift 70 pounds occasionally.
