Tonight marks the Atlantic League debuts of two highly touted former big-leaguers to the Frederick lineup, as Starlin Castro and Jimmy Paredes. Both are set to be in the lineup for the first time on Wednesday night.

Castro, 33, is a four-time MLB All-Star, most recently in 2017 when he was a member of the New York Yankees. Castro first debuted in 2010 with the Chicago Cubs, and has also seen time in the big leagues with Miami and Washington. Across 12 MLB seasons, Castro compiled 1,722 hits and has driven in 678 runs.

Castro burst onto the scene early in his MLB career, hitting a home run in his first MLB at-bat in 2010. A year later, he led the National League with 207 hits, the youngest player in history to do so.

Paredes, 34, first debuted with Houston in 2011, and went on to play six seasons, with stops in Baltimore, Kansas City, Toronto, and Philadelphia along the way. Fans of Frederick may best know Paredes for his time with the 2014 Orioles team that won the American League East, including homering in the division clinching game.

In addition to his major league time, he brings a wealth of Atlantic League experience to the club, as he will enter his fifth season in the league. He played for Mark Minicozzi in Charleston in 2021, and Kentucky in 2022. Across four Atlantic League seasons, Paredes is a .292 hitter.

Fans can make their way out to Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium to see these two in action with the rest of the Frederick Atlantic League team.
